6/1/2012 - Double-A Likes this wine: NRPralined nuts, toast, leather and boot polish on the nose. Buttered toast flavours; elegant and complex with a Sherry note on the palate; long, evolving finish. (presents as Sherried, but likely little if any in the blend) |

2/1/2015 - Double-A Likes this wine: NRAs much phenolics as Ardbeg in ppm, but the medicinal peat component is not nearly as oppressive. Smoky, meaty and sweet-spiced nose with a spearmint note. Good mouthfeel and quality presentation. Likely 16+ years of whiskies in the bottle. |

11/14/2020 - deBare Likes this wine: 89 pointsThe colour is autumn gold with aromas of fresh apricots, bergamot and molasses. The taste is rich coffee, toasted pistachios and deep cinnamon. It is cask-finished in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels and enhanced with a warm finish from hand-selected Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks that previously held 20-year-old Pedro Ximénez Sherry wines. I have many different Isle of Jura scotches in my collection - this is good but not among my favourites. I'm not sure I would buy it again. |

6/11/2020 - John McCabe wrote: 90 pointsA bit weird and rustic, has a backward rubbery note, but interesting all the same. Bears absolutely no resemblance to their standard 21 year which is super red/sherried and outrageously good (even for the price). |

5/24/2020 - OaktownRush Likes this wine: NRLight wood notes, macerated golden raisins, citrus, cinnamon on the nose. The same notes come though on the palate in a linear way — everything comes in at once and finishes at once. It’s lighter flavors but they’re strong and focused. |

4/8/2020 - John McCabe wrote: 91 pointsThis is not nearly as nice as the regular 21 year Isle of Jura bottle (which is more sherry-driven, seems unpeated and is just more decadent). This bottling is more smokey, less smooth and just more muted and congested vs. the other bottling which is so rich and sumptuous. Also, this doesn't feel so old or settled - a bit unbalanced. |

12/1/2019 - John McCabe wrote: 95 pointsSimilar to previous notes. This is so rich and decadent with such deep red sherry notes. For someone who likes un-peated and/or Speyside style scotch, this really sings and is a dialed-up-to-11 version of the style. |

4/30/2017 - NineteenEightyTwo Likes this wine: 89 pointsIse of Jura Tasting (Chicago, Illinois, USA): Same medium-dark color as the "Diurach's Own" 16 Years Old. Very seaside nose, with scents of iodine, campfire, and toasted marshmallows. This has a smoky sweetness similar to this year's 200th Anniversary Limited Edition 8 Years Old from Lagavulin, but far less breadth of aromatic nuances. The palate has consistently ashy and caramelized/burnt sugar notes, evolving some orangey citrus flavors around the periphery. Moderate finish. Though the label proclaims this "heavily peated," I actually find the smoky elements quite well-integrated and balanced in comparison to some of the more aggressively peaty malts from this island's southerly neighbor. Of the three Juras in this tasting, the Prophecy is the most full-bodied and most successfully expresses a sense of place. |

4/30/2017 - NineteenEightyTwo Likes this wine: 88 pointsIse of Jura Tasting (Chicago, Illinois, USA): Medium-dark amber color. Richer, rounder nose than the "Origin" 10 Years Old, with aromas of honey, lemongrass, ripe pear, salted cashews, and butterscotch hard candies. This is very mineral-driven at the front of the mouth, with some apple and cinnamon notes at midpalate. In comparison to the nonexistent finish on the "Origin," this has a rich, slightly sweet warmth that fills the back of the mouth, with some lingering ashy flavors and a faint cocoa note. Fuller than the "Origin" but still a bit lightweight for my tastes. |

4/30/2017 - NineteenEightyTwo wrote: 86 pointsIse of Jura Tasting (Chicago, Illinois, USA): Medium-light gold color. Sweetly malty nose, with some exotic fruit aromas, lychee, lemon candy, a vaguely salty maritime aroma, and some winey/grapey scents. The palate enters with a piquantly fruity and woody note. This becomes somewhat mute at midpalate before perking up with vague butterscotch and some green grape flavors, along with a slightly woody note towards the back of the tongue. Finishing abruptly, this is lightweight throughout the palate. This is meant to be aged in ex-bourbon American Oak barrels and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, but I'm not picking up strong influence from either. This is just OK, not quite as good as I remember the former standard 10 year old bottling being a few years back. |
