10/27/2012 - markbona wrote: 88 pointsNot much nose and very short legs, clear and crisp in the glass as well as on the palette - balanced with good acidity ofsetting citrus and finishes with a hint of not overly tart grapefruit and grass. |

10/6/2012 - markbona wrote: 89 pointsExcellent chateauneuf-du-pape, decanted using the aerator and served with a regular dinner Saturday at home - grilled ribeye with a Mediterranean rub; brussel sprouts in butter sauce and shoepeg corn niblets. This wine complimented the meal excellently and wasn't overpowered by the steak. The wine starts off slightly spicy and then moves to roasted red pepper flavors, the finish has some tannins but is relatively simple though enjoyable. |

2007 Graffigna Malbec Grand ReserveSan Juan more |
8/26/2012 - markbona wrote: 91 pointsClassic Malbec that got much better after two hours of decanting in the bottle, blood red color in the glass, long sexy legs, spicy and musky bouquet, big but bitingly dry, like rough leather - grabs and holds your tongue and then plenty of tannin, fruit and mild spice finish the after-taste. Paired awesomely with Sunday dinner of NY Strip (bone-in) on the grill, fresh tomato and olive salad, and potato salad. |

8/5/2012 - markbona wrote: 90 pointsAs was already said, I hesitate to rate a 10 dollar bottle of wine a 90, but this was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness (very subtle) and acidity. It was so good on a hot summer day and it had enough structure and acid/apricot that it isn't overpowered by food nor is it so sweet that it's annoying. Excellent value wish I'd bought more. |

7/8/2012 - markbona wrote: 88 pointsWow! For the price I originally paid for this wine which has now been in my cellar for going on 7 years this wine was superb! Had it with steaks on the grill - ran it through the aerator into a carafe and poured it straightaway. Lots of fruit left and lots of flavor. Not much if any oak at all but still some tannins present on the finish. Like a nice Beaujolais or Cotes' de Rhone but even better. |

2003 Château VillarsFronsac Red Bordeaux Blend more |
6/13/2012 - markbona wrote: 88 pointsVery good - a fairly big wine that grabs the tongue and squeezes it on your palette then rounds to a chewy spicy bordeaux. Will let the other bottle in our cellar age another year or two but this is a very, very drinkable wine right now, IMO. Lots of spice but still a fair amount of tannin and fruit, it could also cellar another couple of years as well. |

6/8/2012 - markbona wrote: 87 pointsLovely nice dry cabernet - grabbed our tongues and made a perfect accompaniment to our dinner of Grilled NY Strips on a lovely Friday evening in Northern VA - mild oak rounding to a leathery after taste on the palette with mild tannins - if you have this wione, I'd drink it soon, not much fruit left in it. |
