I should not have opened this without leaving time for long decanting, or planned to come back to it in a few days. Apparently it improves with a lot of air or after being open a few days |

3/27/2023 - BenitoBlanco_ Likes this wine: 91 pointsOutstanding. After Fruit and now Racine, I will be seeking out Jonc Blanc. This one has a bit more balance and wisdom on it with more of a redder fruit slant that you’d expect from higher merlot %. Love these great red wines and how these tannins express themselves with the acid and funk laid over. Definitely need more. |

3/21/2023 - BenitoBlanco_ Likes this wine: 90 pointsWhat a great introduction to natural wine for someone who drinks lots of bigger French reds, namely Merlot and Cab Sauv. This one is 60/40 Merlot/Cab and has a really nice, complex bouquet on the nose that follows through in the taste of light acidity and funk, while not losing the bright fruit character. Tannins are medium to light but have a great structure that certainly is unique to natural wines. Really enjoyed this and looking forward to my other Jonc Blanc bottles. Highly recommend for someone who wants to explore natural wine while still having some familiarity in the glass. |

5/29/2022 - mks83 Likes this wine: 89 pointsPer back label, 77% Merlot, 23% Cab. Color - inky blackish core with vivid pastel purple at the very rim. Nose - a lot of blackberry, both fresh and jammed, iron, and banana bread. Minor hint of reduction/boiled egg. Mouth - high acidity, with medium++ ripe sweet tannin with thick round texture like greek yogurt. Medium++ finish. Overall, juicy, inky, smooth and concentrated, almost reminds of natural Cahor. Excellent value for $18, and consistent quality year to year. |

2/20/2022 - JLaRoche Likes this wine: 86 pointsVery interesting wine as it evolved in the glass and with food. Definitely a wine to drink with food, otherwise acetone notes predominate. Oily mouthfeel. With food, much more floral than anything else and complimented spice rubbed bbq brilliantly. |

10/8/2021 - Cygnushan wrote: NRThe 2018 Jonc Blanc "Fleur" is a gorgeous and complex wine from 45% old-vine Semillon (70+ years old), Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris from Franck and Isabelle Pascal in Bergerac, Biodynamic farming on limestone with clay and sandy soils, vinification without additives, aging for 18 months on the lees in cuve inox, bottled with a small addition of SO2, 20mg/l total. The 2018 Fleur is a lovely wine showing floral aromas of ripe citrus, melon and pear; the palate is ripe, supple and refreshing with ripe white fruits, quite generous and backed with firm acidity and saline/mineral flavors in the very long finish. Far from the typical varietal Sauvignon, this is a rich complex white of great character that willl acccompany cheeses and white meats and is a delicious aperitif. David Lillie |

7/29/2021 - Francois Le Mouel Likes this wine: 91 pointsWhat a great QPR. I was expecting a light wine, focused on fruit and I got much more. The back label mentions Castillon as the main terroir, but the Domaine is located in Bergerac, so I'm assuming a portion of the grapes are coming from Bergerac and another from Castillon...and that's why they sell this wine as Vin de France. Intense in colour, on the nose and on the palate...gobs of fruit, but also some tannins. Good length. I suspect that the vinification is done in whole bunch. Very charming and fresh. Biodynamic farming (certified), wild yeasts, no fining and filtration...and more than 24 months on lees in neutral vessels. You get a lot for $27-28 (IP through Vin dans les Voiles and the SAQ in Quebec - ). Bravo! 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

1/2/2021 - prof b Does not like this wine: NRThis was hard to get a read on. When I opened it, the wine was too warm and smelled and tasted like crappy baked beans. I put it in the kitchen fridge and forgot about it for about a week. When I came back to it, it was more appealing in that there was more of a mineral quality to the wine. Still, I couldn't really detect anything I'd call fruit. |

2/26/2019 - Marius Cavasdan Likes this wine: 90 points25 years old.vines. Aged for 18 months in french oak. Deep red black. You would think its tannat or malbec. Expressive nose. Chocolate, oak spice. With blackcurrant fruit in the background. Needs some air for sure. Full bodied. Palate is rich. But the tannins and bit of acidity make the 15% feel smooth. Long finish. Screams for food and cellar aging |
