A nice pinot style reminiscent of middle level Oregon wineries---not off center like CA pinots but not a true Burgundian offering either. New WOrld all the way, with bright lingonberry and cherry tastes, not much depth but good breeding

I detected the faintest hint of spritz, otherwise seemed fairly simple. Will hold judgement for next bottle.

Grabbed my first of bottle of this to take to a no-corkage fee dinner at a local restaurant. Seems not to have been a good choice. Unfiltered, this didn't seem to like the ride and was just 'off'; perhaps a bit sour, acetyl? After a few days under Ar back at home, much improved.
Better notes with the next bottle.

  • Comment posted by rjquillin:

9/7/2014 3:37:00 PM - Yes, actually I knew that, but had a lapse of conciseness; this was just poor timing and a good reminder unfiltered bottles can be fragile.

Great value for the money 50/50 Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Always a crowd pleaser. One of the best $15 and under wines you can buy!!!

Good cab, but a bit tannic and rough. May get better with age. Has dark red color with blue fruit. Decent finish, but a little astringent- tough tannins.

Very nice nose of cherry, strawberry, tar, licorice, cedar and something floral. Tart cherry on the palate with some tobacco and leather on the finish. Very refreshing acidity and slightly bitter tannins. I'm in no hurry to drink the remaining bottles; I think they'll hold for a few more years

Great pinot noir; a little closed perhaps, even after air, but still a nice tart cherry pop with a little dark fruit mixed in and some minerality to boot. No tannin, of course. Really good QPR -- drinkable pinot noir under $20 is very hard to find...

Had after a mag of 1973 Freemark Abbey Bosche. Did not take detailed notes but it was enjoyed by everyone at dinner. Recall nice fruit with tannins and acidity to last. I will buy more.

Dark cherries on the palate with creamy vanilla oak, medium body and moderate tannins. I detected only the slightest trace of secondary fermentation upon PnP, it seems to have mostly resolved itself in-bottle and this wine is drinking nicely right now.

  • Comment posted by rjquillin:

9/1/2013 10:05:00 PM - I recall the winery had/has an issue with Brett in their cabs, clearly detectable in this vintage and another label they bottle. How does that resolve itself with time?

Too much brett at this stage. It overpowers the nose with aromas of band-aid and barnyard. Beyond that does like some interesting notes of blueberry and blackberry bramble, tar, and exotic spice. On the palate the brett is similarly manifest, distracting from the ripeness and peppery flavors that would otherwise show this to be a tasty wine.

  • Comment posted by rjquillin:

8/12/2013 5:42:00 PM - Your first bottle, or you've had others too that have shown Brett, but not to this extent?

  • Comment posted by rjquillin:

8/12/2013 6:45:00 PM - A little is one thing, but when it overpowers; pass. Thanks, you saved me a purchase.

Deep magenta. Blueberry pie, spice and oak nose. Medium to full bodied, blackberries, pepper, black cherries, cedar, sweet tannins, dark chocolate, a flash of heat, and a nice medium to long finish. This was much better on day 2, so be sure to give it plenty of air.
