A. I was surprised, quite good. Devona makes great stuff but wasn’t sure about the Cab. Didn’t disappoint and I only decanted for one hour. I enjoyed this with some Chinese food again a surprisingly good pairing.

92-93 with 4 hours air. On PNP wine is too disjointed with high acidity. But opened beautifully with a couple hours of air to crystalline cool red fruit with crunchy acidity. Very happy to have more.

Light, sappy, pure fruited cool red cherry, alpine strawberry, raspberry coulis. Fresh med+ acidity, sneaky fine drying tannin and a medium+ finish of cool, fresh alpine strawberry

I bought a case on release and mowed thru 8 bottles in the first few years. Hadn't tasted it since and was excited and expecting great things based on the amount of fruit packed into each bottle. I was not disappointed. Beautifully balanced, full bodied and better the second day after it was left just corked on the counter. One of my top '97 California Cabs which deftly avoids the high alcohol hotness which marks this vintage. I will plan to consume the last of the 3 remaining bottles no sooner than 5 years.

13.2% abv. Dark garnet color. Modest amount of clear staining of tears. Red berries, pomegranate, eucalyptus, cedar, fresh raisins. Med weight in mouth, surprising acidity and some tannins; this still shows fairly lively in mouth (pnp, no decant), 45+ sec finish. Respectable, has more years left if stored well (my cork soft/broke on opening).

Purchased at a Wine Berserkers event. Intoxicating nose of raspberry jam. Red and black juicy fruit dominate and explode on the palate coating all areas of the mouth. Nice secondary notes of cedar and leather.

Medium body with a little too much tannins. Probably should have been opened a day early or kept for a few more years.

Wow, can't believe my impression is so far off from RP who scored this wine a 98 and the other reviewers who have had this wine here on Cellar Tracker. First day impressions were that this is a very ordinary wine and actually a little below ordinary, an 89 for me. I have had Anderson's 2011 of this same wine and loved it. 2 hour decant, flavors seemed subdued, mouth feel was diluted and watery. It did not improve with time that evening. Don't think brett was the issue, there was no funk in the taste. A puzzler. Hopefully, the wine is going through a shut down phase and will reopen with more time in bottle. Second day, the wine was some improved with dark fruit flavors consolidating and coming forward. Second day was a 92. Overall score is a combination of the two.

7/1/2020 4:00:00 PM - My bottle tonight performing great. Full expression of Napa aged cabernet. Easy 94 pts. I drink Conn Valleys after at least 10 years. I like the fruit to “age” and tannins to dissipate.

2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Night (Lincoln Squre Steaks, Amsterdam Ave, New York City): This is a tough one to rate. Ultimately it was slightly disappointing with a heavy mouthfeel and notes of stewed fruit on the palate. About half of my 8 person group also felt it was very (and too much so) acidic. I wanted to love this, but ended up only liking it.

All that being said, one person to our group was an hour late, but we had poured him a glass. He thought it was great, with none of the cooked fruit and high acid flavors. I took a sip, and a lot of that blew off. But I can't rate it on that one sip. But with the right conditions, this could edge into 92 point territory.

No where near the 97 points Parker gave it, but still very respectable. I'll try another bottle in a six months, and let it breathe much longer.

7/1/2020 3:55:00 PM - Drinking beautifully today. Classic Conn Valley, classic aged Napa claret. This bottle easily matches the average CT score of 94. Well into secondary fruit flavors, soft silky tannins, alcohol not coming across hot.

3/27/2020 2:48:00 PM - MTL2323 - Your comments are what I would expect for this property at such a young age. I have some long term experience with them and in strong years the tannins will dominate for the first 5-10 years. I see RP's (LP) starts the drinking window at 2020, I would not open one until 2025 or later to get past the tannin.

Second time to try this. Quite disappointing given its over-rating. Nose gives you hope but there is nothing much there to back it up. One lone bottle remaining. Not sure what to do... sell or bury it deep in the cellar hoping it makes a total transformation.

8/14/2019 4:38:00 PM - Wait a few more years. I am getting a lot of the funk now, with significant tannin. My guess is 2022+ in a 55 degree cellar . This is a more "classic" producer and you will get some bret/funk.

5/1/2017 4:42:00 PM - Your logic is flawed. If you do not like cheese on your hamburger, is it a bad hamburger/cheeseburger....and you will give it 60 points? If it is not your style, it is not a bad wine.
