This wine is in its zone. Drinking great right out of the bottle. May have a little life left, but I am not sure why you would wait. Certainly no more upside. Enjoy

I think this wine is going through a secondary fermentation. I have now seen significant bubbling when pouring, and drinking of this wine. 2 bottles in of 6. Flavors are good. But not what I would expect from a 35th anniversary wine.

Color: Lt-medium straw.

Nose: Perfumey and highly complex nose with crystal lemon hard candy, lime zest, minerals, petrol, fresh cut chamomile, and kiss of peppermint. Fantastic nose.

Pal: Tremendous concentration of fruit. Citrus/lemon custard, quince, camomile, and minerals. 13.0% alc. Long, powerful, salty, piquant finish. Complex. Superb. Beautiful.

Grand Cru (GG) Grainhübel fruit. Outstanding dry German Riesling.

Solid: 93-94. This is just a little bit extra. Beautiful, crystalline, complex.

Lovely refreshing bottle of wine. Nose is slight, but has some floral and citrus aroma. The wine has some medium to high acid with medium minerality. Pear and apricot overtones. Great to start the evening.

Using a Coravin to enjoy this beauty. The nose right out of the bottle was a bit musty. I was afraid it could be corked. With the pour a defined plum / orange color was evident. I decided to just let it sit in the glass and let the air do its magic The mustiness has begun to wisp away after about 30 minutes. The 58 year old wine maintains it Tempranillo characteristics Soft on the front with hints of alcohol The backend lends itself subtle spice with slight cayenne and subtle chalk. Going to let this to continue to open up.

This wine is nearing its age. Certainly a drinkable aperitif. I am however leveraging for cooking. I used this baby primarily for soaking some wood chips in over night and then smoked the chips. It was beautiful.

This is a knockout. This wine is a super complex classy. High acidity and a long finish. Wish I had another!

4/8/2022 8:01:00 AM - I would completely agree. I had a mag of this for my daughter's match day. I was competing with a '96 Pontet Canet. Both show impeccably. Wish I had more off both.

Curious if people are buying Myriad's 2020 release of Dr. Crane and Dr. Crane Elysian. Not only are they releasing the wine but they increased the price! Thoughts?

2/4/2022 7:14:00 AM - I purchase similar to River Rat. I tend to buy Mike's portfolio. He is a great wine maker and I trust him. I buy 2 -3 bottles of each. Agreed that the price per bottle is getting steep in Napa. I classify my wines into 3 categories: 1) Tuesday wine - which is my wife's version of drink today, these are usually lower priced wines 2) Aging wines 5-10 years 3) My Children. Bulk of my wine is in bracket 2 as I can buy brakes one and be opportunistic when purchasing. Love my Children, in Bracket 3. I put Myriad wines typically in that category. I am shifting my purchasing of wine to across the pond. More value for the dollar. I will still buy some Napa Cabs however, the price to value proposition is getting out of sync. I am not buying in to the great California government experiment. Some really great values in Portugal, France and even in South Africa.

2/4/2022 8:20:00 AM - So I belong to a wine club called International Wine and Food Society. If you have one near you, you should look in to it, it exposed me to great wines and food pairings. I currently am in the exploration stage as well. You should have visibility to my cellar. I am currently focused on regions, grapes and Terrior right now. Figuring out my palate. One emerging area for me is Portugal. Still learning their grapes, but great wine at reasonable prices including shipping. Hope that helps.

Debauchery at its finest. A cheap, slutty wine on the front end and a silky smooth tasting wine one the back end. I bought it for a Tuesday wine, but to be honest I wish I had bought more. Get it if you can. It’s a bargain Southern Rhône.
