PnP. Medium light red; lovely red fruits on the nose (raspberry, strawberry). Medium weight on the palate with just enough "crunchiness" to make this a delightful drink.

I think this is drinking very well. Popped and poured. Tannins have softened. It was more elegant than other Christopher Creek Petites that I have had. I think this is drinking very well right now. I have one more in the cellar and I won't let iot linger too long

The cork had streaks almost to the top so watch out for cork issues. The wine was still fine with a nice palate and nose. The wine streaks in the glass almost seem to contain extremely fine particles but the decanter did not have sediment. This is a good value wine but I don't recommend storing too long. It drinks well now and I suspect that they are discounting this wine because the corks are not holding up. I peeled of the top foil of another bottle, shined a bright light on the cork and I could see the wine stain on part of the cork. I will drink this one soon...

12/7/2012 6:36:00 AM - I also noticed how much of the wine had penetrated the cork, but I have had 4 since October and no issues with any of them. I agree, though, I would not wait too long to drink them, even though I think this wine could do well with more time.

Thanksgiving. Opened, double decanted, and re-corked the night before. Obvious potential but plainly years from opening up. John Gilman's 2017 start date might be about right... certainly I'll wait until at least 2015.

Rather disappointing after a couple of great experiences with this in recent months. This bottle was much simpler and rather a one-note wine, with red and dark fruit tinged with earth and leather in a polished, medium weight package but not a whole lot of complexity or depth here.

11/23/2012 6:39:00 PM - I've got one of these left, and trying to when/how to serve. Do you decant? If so, did you regret it?

really disappointing. good fruit right up front, but everything fades pretty quickly leaving an impression of a thin, watery wine. tannins pretty tame. maybe the second half will be better after a day of air. maybe a bad bottle? we'll see how the second bottle is in a couple months.

When I first popped the cork I sensed sweet, but that quickly disappeared. Color is very deep red or crimson. Very minerally at first with little fruit. I think it was served a little to cold. By the 2nd glass it released a bit more fruit, but I expected more. Not very acidic either. The finish was longer given first impressions. Saved 1/2 the bottle for the next evening.

2nd half of bottle next night was nice as the fruit opened up more, though still understated. Concludes that need at least 30-60 minutes of decanting time before serving. Had with simple spaghetti and meatballs, and after. Overall enjoyable, and bumped the score from 81 to 83.

3/2/2010 10:17:00 AM - Confirmed my thoughts of a month ago on this wine. Had another half bottle last evening with the balance for this evening. Based on last's night experience, I would keep at 83. Probably won't order additional bottles from WSJ Wine Store - the initial source.
