Wet earth and truffles. After 4-5 hours the fruit faded and this became more austere. Bottle was from auction. Update: came back into balance at the end of the night, interesting to see the evolution, overall a classic Margaux. |

10/11/2017 - logos Likes this wine: 84 points375. med gold. still touch of sulphur in elegant, refined nose of apricot, pineapple, orange-tinged lemon, slightly floral, spicey notes with honey-laced botrytis overlay; becomes richer as warms with air and bitter almond graced orange notes emerge. complex, very lively flavour with rather explosive notes all around tongue and palate. excellent balance of sugar and acid; just right touch of botrytis bitterness at commencement of extremely long, delicate, sprightly fade out. should improve for a few years

2/23/2013 - mazik Does not like this wine: 80 pointsNot flawed (no TCA) but not up to snuff. Like the "Ten" last week, it tasted cooked, though not so badly. There was some fruit in the nose and on the palate, but it was not a good much less a great wine. Winery suggests problem may have been the Fedex ground shipment in mid-November of 2009 rather than the wine itself, and I have no reason to doubt it, maybe it's the victim of a truckdriver who let his load heat up somewhere. But I haven't had this problem with other wines shipped from California, e.g. from DuMol. I have a feeling that my experience is the same as other tasters who gave this wine a 90 out of respect for the label.

1/14/2011 - Alex H wrote: 85 pointsV sharp floral notes. Lifted cherries and some brambles come thru which made me think an igt blend of Cabernet n Sangiovese. Bright and polished on the palate. Felt like a mix of French and American oak. This I gotta say is extremely elegant for a napa cab. Very classically made with balance and control worthy of a Bordeaux. One of the most controlled napa cabs I hv tasted and being relatively youthful too.
