A load of fruit up front on the palate with a heavy dose of cherry and blackberry socking you in the face. Fantastic wine and just can't believe they blend the leftovers to make this wine. Just wonderful wine. Highly recommended and has plenty of legs to last a little longer in my opinion. I don't have any left but recommend it to those who do.

Enjoyed this Goldeneye with a marinated pork loin with an onion & rasberry marmelade -- the flavors in the marmelade played well off of the berry and earthy notes in the Pinot.

Gorgeous ruby color, opened up nicely after decanting and waiting an hour or so -- a bit tight with a little heat on the pop & pour, so definitely give it a bit of time after opening. Lovely mouth feel, with a velvet berry finish.

Raspberry, blackberry, mocha, smoke (from the carmenere...rare for a US wine) and pepper - it's lush, broad on the palate and well balanced, with a long, lingering finish. This is an incredible wine for the price (about $15) and if I can find any more, I'll pick up everything I can et my hands on.

And, the blend on this thing is crazy (see below) - makes me want to be there for that blending party...probably takes a week to figure it all out.

BLEND
- 31% Cabernet Sauvignon (15% Walla Walla Valley, 9% Columbia Valley, 4% Wahluke Slope, 3% Rattlesnake Hills
- 27% Syrah (17% Columbia Valley, ◦6% Horse Heaven Hills, 2% Wahluke Slope, 2% Walla Walla Valley)
- 16% Merlot (9% Walla Walla Valley, 4% Columbia Valley,2% Rattlesnake Hills, 1% Wahluke Slope
- 14% Cabernet Franc (◦8% Horse Heaven Hills, 3% Walla Walla Valley, 3% Wahluke Slope
- 7% Malbec (Columbia Valley)
- 3% Sangiovese (Columbia Valley)
- 1% Carmenere (Walla Walla Valley)
- 1% Petit Verdot (Walla Walla Valley & Columbia Valley)

$15 petite sirah that blew my socks off - very nicely restrained petite. from my glass to my cellar.

3/18/2010 4:25:00 PM - I so concur with your note! This is a hidden gem I found on a side shelf in our HEB when they had all their Concannons on sale for $7.99 a bottle (I don't think they realized it was a $15 retail, not $10 retail like the CS, SB and Merlot) It knocked our socks off the first time I brought one home to try. I haven't reviewed it and didn't add it to my cellar b/c it usually comes & goes pretty quickly (I can't always keep up with our everyday wine habit . . .) -- but it is one of my favorite inexpensive "go to" wines.

A little too oakey, overbearing fruit and just a bit off balance for me. On the nose, I picked up smoke, oak, pepper, coke (say that 5 times fast), but not much fruit…that came in the mouth with dark, ripe cherries followed by the oak and pepper. Strong tannin structure, with mild acidity and a bit too hot for my taste as it meandered into a fairly long finish (longer than I expected).

3/18/2010 4:14:00 PM - Dang -- I wish I had read your review when you posted it -- I drank my 05 RH Merlot the next day & didn't really care for it either. I was a bit less forgiving of its faults - maybe it was my mood.

Keep up the good (& fun) work --
