Magnum. Sour cherries and soy sauce on nose and palate. Long finish but mostly over the hill.

This is quite a monster, although not as monsterish as the Kosta on the table. Dark berry fruits, monolithic, not quite gooey, but overdone Pinot and not my style. Hedonists at Katana.

PnP consumed over about 2 and a half hours. Nose of dark cherry, black raspberry, slightly savory. Palate is very fruity, intensely dark cherry, but somewhat linear with little development over time. This is very full-bodied for a pinot. Acidity is still fairly high, very slightly tannic. The texture was not yet syrupy, but it seems to be just starting to head in a port-like direction. The bottle was enjoyable but seems to be on the descent based on other reviews.

Started flabby and disjointed with alcohol showing through. An hour later things came into place and it was pleasant though still missing on greatness.

A tale of 2 wines in the same bottle. Opened and decanted and for the first hour it was delightful. But the last glass became bitter and undrinkable. I have 1 left and won't decant it.

Nothing too exciting. Initial tastes were great. Wine quickly died after an hour. Should have drank faster!

Needs another 5 years at least, but once it opened up, the potential was clear. This could be something special.

A little better after the Coravin taste, with cranberry, berry and some acidity. Still not a wow -- especially for the retail price. Perhaps this bottle was off?

Somehow off, this wine was hideous, with notes of acid and spouse said it was like vinegar. A poor showing for a wine with $75 retail. (We paid $21 on close-out: still too expensive!)

To sum it up, this one is way too young to properly rate. If this one would have been opened up two or three days ago and slow ox'ed it would be probably a 95 or 96. This experience showed a lot of oak. American or possibly Hungarian. Lots of it on the front, and a lot.of toasted oak on the finish. What makes me think there wasn't any taint is that the black fruit notes are definitely there. But it is very youthful and sweet. Agree with Shay's note of dill. I think this one just needs 5 or so years in bottle to work itself out. Structure and depth is there; it just needs time to shine!

Bought at Park Avenue Liquor Store during this week's business trip to New York. The wine was medium to dark ruby in colour and threw fine sediment. It offered sweetish, boiled down red berries, raisins, cedar, mint, soy sauce, balsamic notes and complex spice aromas on the nose and palate, which were joined by vegtal notes after some aeration, with prominent acidity, ripe, mostly resolved tannin and very good length. The prominent acidity felt citric and non-natural and ultimately ruined what had probably otherwise been a very pleasant Pinot Noir. There was some alcohol on the back-end, too. A pity. Would not buy again. (NR)

NB: Pairing it with a medium (+)-bodied cigar (a Padron 1926 No. 2) tamed the acidity and eliminated part of the wine's oak and earth flavours and emphasized its red fruit flavours, almost transforming it into sour cherry + cranberry juice in the first half of the cigar, but the cigar became too strong and overpowered the wine in the cigar's second half.

2017-02-28 Very dark. Blackberry, earth, vanilla, sage nose. True to house style, this is large scaled, tons of dry extract rather than tannin. Is delicious today, but deserves 10 years to show more nuance. Very pricy - we will see if it will prove to be worth $165
