But it sorts itself out with maybe 15 minutes air. The nose is very rich, spices, nuts, like an amontillado sherry, but with complexity of fruits, herbs; also a touch hot. All of the above follow to the palate, which has a fairly rich mouthfeel, but not as full as the nose might suggest once it has had a little air. There is light acidity to keep everything balanced, and a long lingering sherry-like finish. As the producer's notes suggest, this is a "contemplative wine" - suitable for sipping as a digestive, or perhaps with some cheese or cold cuts, much like a sherry. All in all it's a rather interesting expression of Pigato (as Vermentino is known in this region), and OK QPR at ~US$28. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comment
