Yes, pepper in aftertaste, along with some slow dissolving fruit. Removed sulfer with a penny - much improved. Some nose, better palate, aftertaste. I do taste oak, maybe too much. Need better discipline with barrel oaking and blending. I buy wines to consume, not to age - why waste time. If it needs to age, let the vintner hold it until it's ready instead of being greedy. |

Oak, potting soil, vanilla, dark plum and slight a floral perfume come through on the nose while red cherry, tobacco, red plum, green bell peper pyrazines, blackberry, stems and black peppercorns on the palate add to the chorus. It's nice profile on paper, but this Catena offering needs more oomph and temerity to be anything memorable. Simply put, it lacks depth, and considering Argentina has a number of much more captivating takes on this varietal for a similar price, you might be left wanting with this selection. |

Similar flavors on the palate with some crushed stone and black pepper also. Quite fresh and lively, with impressive length. Very fine indeed. One note, this is just labeled Guatallary and I don’t see any reference to Altamira or St. Felicen on the label, but this popped up when I scanned the bar code. |
