Funny that this underperformed, since it was a repurchase of something I liked before, but bottle variation happens, or it could have been food mismatch (doubtful) or this bottle could have had a little mishandling. It wasn't bad by the second night, or even at the end of the first, but it wasn't a big winner. |

7/21/2015 - Old School Fan Likes this wine: 89 points90% Mencia/10% Tempranillo (I think). Terrific wine. Good Mencia ranks among some of my favorite Spanish wines! The nose shows some berry fruit notes with an herb and wet rocks touch. The palate shows the same as flavors of cranberry, tart cherry and blueberry mingle with chalky, minerally, stony, herby (fennel) flavors. Great acidity and freshness as you'd expect with a 2014. For best results, chill this for 30 minutes to keep it from getting flat and flabby in summer heat. If you like Loire Cab Franc, good Beaujolais, and Piedmont Barbera, give this a shot! Great QPR. |

A bit sour and quite tannic, yet has a sweetness about it. Not balanced and not especially tasty, but does get better with air. |
