Not as lively as the other bottle we had, but enjoyable aged white Burg. Medium-short finish. Not a tonne of fruit remaining. Bottle variation as expected.

Old mature burgundy. Acquired taste. Lots of complexity here to like - darker - some bricking - weighty - earthiness and mineral notes. Sipping wine that goes well with cheese / should pair well with meats. For a Bourgogne this has more to offer than expected.

Unique experience having a white this old. Not much nose, mostly minerality, even briny, color was light straw, surprisingly strong tears, subtle honey, and dried flowers on the palate. Paired with Epoisses and toasted baguette. Then pulled out some dried dates which went well. I think you could use this as a dessert wine to have something briny to balance out with cake.

Opened using a Durand because a tiny bit of mold was visible on top of the cork. But I don’t think that was necessary because the cork was actually in quite good health. Poured into a Grassl Cru.
The wine was a deep golden color, I think befitting a 33yo. The nose in this was surprisingly fresh, with baked apple, lemon curd, a slight toasted hazelnut, and some notable stoniness. On the palate however this fell fairly flat, with a staleness that never receded. The texture is nice and waxy, but there is a pronounced vegetal note that hampers this promise. Some fruit, but cobwebs where the acid probably was years ago. The finish may have left with it, as there isn’t much to speak of. Some wines taste like stone dust, some like sawdust, some rare winners like stardust. This tasted like dust. Keeping it open for a bit and it really began to taste like stale bread and I think it’s flawed.

Edit: humbled by time again. A few days later (recorked and refrigerated) this was a much different elixir. Not overly complex, but the nose showed honey, roasted hazelnuts, and grilled mushrooms. Overly specific, I know, but these really jumped out clearly to me. The palate was still relatively innocuous but was not dusty anymore. Clean and clear, still short on the finish, and short on fruit, but with a faint burst of acidity. Not done, but nearing its last legs. Will drink my other bottle soon, probably open it a day before, and eat with chicken.

Still surprisingly youthful and fresh, with subtle notes of maturity, but otherwise quite spry with bright acidity.

Interesting and tasty but not transcendent or anything. Nice apple and straw characteristics and a medium finish. No significant oxidation. Nice experiment with a 32 year old Burg.

Last and best of 3 bottles. PNP, was not terribly impressed with the first two, but this showed relatively well tonight, having settled, with good balance and integration. Age blew off after opening, still some blue fruit aromas hanging around, seemed to round out with some air, some fruit still on the palette, some leather/licorice at the tail end. Nothing mind-blowing, but holding its own well enough for a 23 year old Bourgogne weeknight drinker. Drink now.

Pours a golden yellow that starts to darken within 30 minutes. Smells of macerated lemon and a touch of butterscotch. Lanolin like texture that leads to stewed citrus flowers. The acidity remains to help with the fruit that begins to grow tired after an hour. I liked this a lot in the first 30 minutes. I will drink my others soon and quickly.

This has aged gracefully and it's appreciated to taste such an aged wine at such a reasonable price, $30 USD. So excellent QPR. The other two TNs capture it well; I'd say there is plenty of that fresh and bruised apple, some lemon curd, and acid and I'd add some marzipan and honeycomb, not unlike some Rhone whites (Roussanne). Really nice on PnP and with some air, but even gently transferring ~1/3 of the bottle into a bottle where there was nearly no air gap, it lost verve the second night, which won't surprise anyone.

Purchased from Envoyer, ex-cellar bottle. The cork had a good deal of mold, as well as the punt. However, I thought the bottle was fantastic, and while a little long in the tooth, from an era less susceptible to rapid aging. I served it blind to my tasting group, and another happened to have brought a 2008 Vincent Girardin Puligny Montrachet VV. That wine, despite being 18 vintages younger, showed more signs of fading and in a few years will be dead, whereas this was lively on the PnP.

Day 1 - Lanonin and wool, not unlike savagnin, with lemon curd and apple tart. Ample acidity. A little fuzzy, but quite fresh
Day 2 - now the fino sherry notes have crept in along with a little pine needle. Don't leave any around for the second day!

Tasted blind. Clearly past mature with lots of orchard fruit, baked apples, caramel, and cider on the nose. Weird nose overall, it's not premoxed, but should feel fresher, even for a 30 year old Chardonnay. The palate is a bit more interesting and still has some good acidity left with more citrus leaning rather than baked apple notes. Medium-short finish. Probably should've been drunk 15-20 years ago.

Pale brick brown color. Aroma of damp forest, thyme, basil and mint. With air exposure, obvious juicy cherry and dusty earth. Nice cherry and plum acidity at palate entry. Mid-palate of lime, anise and clove. Medium long finish with earthy mushroom, cedar, clove, cloa and brined olive. Medium body, need at least 10 minutes of air exposure for mildew smell to disappear, good acidity some fruit and nice tertiary spices.

I was expecting this to be well past its prime, but the nose showed plenty of red fruit, floral notes and sous-bois. The fruit was fading on the palate and the tannins resolved. I liked this and suggest drinking up.
