Coravined. Nice aromas of cherry, licorice, and underbrush. Medium bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, a nice all around red. Neither simple nor complex, drink or hold, plenty of material, but not overtly structured either.

This may have been as the color was off and didn't hold up well on Day 2.
luckily, this is the last one that I have.
Overall, I preferred to others in this series with this one being my least favorite.
I think that there are better dN wines so no need to struggle with this one for me.

Pop'n'pour. Cherries and spice on the nose. Same impression on the palate, medium plus weight, fuller and more open than typical for the region, medium acidity, hint of eucalyptus. Pleasant finish, balanced tannins, no oak.

Relatively simple, already nicely evolved, really delicious. Hold next bottle for 2-3 years.

This was a nice wine that surprised me as I've not fully loved the dN Italian wines. However, this was bright, crisp and a little tart which for me was perfect with traditional pasta, meatballs, & sauce.

A bit of a brownish tinge in the glass gave me a little pause at first but upon tasting, found this wine to be really very tasty. A little bit of spice or herbs, tart(er) fruits and more robust than the color alone indicated.
Nice full aromas, and medium light body.

I believe that Cam's tasting notes were fairly accurate. Enjoyed this wine.

I had modest expectations based on the prior review. Well, this is what I often hope Nebbiolo can be, but often is not. There's more weight and texture than the average Valtellina, but less intrusive structure than the average Barolo/Barbaresco. This is a good place to be.

Nose opened up nicely over several hours. Peppery and herbal, with floral and menthol undertones, marasca cherry, leather. Red fruited attack, comfortably unfolds into a broad mid-palate with refined texture. Superb structure, the tannins are ripe and soft, yet decently grippy. Acidity is medium+, yet not angular. Lingering finish, no oak, skews more to red fruit and herbs than minerality.

Drinking well now with air, though this will age for at least a decade. Probably will reach a nice early maturity window in several years once the structure integrates. I tend to think of Grumello as a bit more gentle than Sassella and Inferno . . . . I am excited to discover what those crus have in store.

This was an ok wine - not terrible - but for me a bit too dry on day #1. Definitely was better with food that was a bit more acidic - e.g. tomato sauce type products.
Light -medium body, clear darkish red/brown in the glass.
I don't get the muscular that Cam described but certainly needs time & air to improve.
Day #3 was best although this is not a re-buy for me.

Yes, it’s “too young”. Yes, still very tannic. Yet, I can’t help enjoy at this stage. Classic Valtellina nose. Under ripe cherry, nice tart red fruits, some floral elements and hints of licorice. Prominent acidity helps balance out the tannins. Quite long finish. There’s a wild rustic-ness to these that’s charming.

Will see how it develops.

Colour: medium(-) garnet
Nose: medium(+) intensity, secondary, youthful. Dried plum, red and black plum, sour cherry, cherry syrup. Dried rose petals, dried orange peel. Warm earth. Cough syrup? Cedar, vanilla.
Palate: medium(+) acidity, medium(+) tannins, medium alcohol (13,5%), medium(+) bodied. Medium(+) intensity, medium length finish. Dried plum, red and black plum, sour cherry, cherry syrup. Plum jam? Dried rose petals, dried orange peel. Warm earth. Cough syrup? Cedar, vanilla.
Conclusions: very good. Can drink now, but suited to further ageing.
Seal: natural cork

Very pleasant wine.
Very light in color and medium body with a nice tartness.
Not a lot of aromas but it was a Pnp with aeration.
But some floral notes, a bit of herbs and light berry flavors.

Pleasantly surprised with this given the lack of other tasting notes.

Opened at Geoff's place with filet roast. Reminded me of an old vine Zin, in a good way. Big structure, dried fruit, yet with substantial iron-like minerality and alpine herbs. Really delicious, needs protein, the impression of sweetness from the air-dried Nebbiolo grapes seems tailored for the latter stages of dinner.

Still recovering from COVID, so my nose and palate is not 100%. But I needed some wine to cook with and saw that this bottle had a slightly depressed cork. Upon removing the foil it appears the cork was inserted at an odd angle.

Tasted from a PnP. Medium-light garnet in color. Nose of raspberries, boysenberries, lingonberries, leather, and a hint of lavender. Light bodied, medium-high acid, and mineral heavy. Tart red berries and leather on the palate. After several more minutes, I get a leafy and slightly herbal undertone. Firm but light tannins bring in granite and gravel. Long tart cranberry/lingonberry finish with lots of mineral/stone and a bit of a lavender.

Very tasty from a PnP. Will revisit either in the evening or next day. Feels like this wine needs some air to coax out more flavors.

fine Sassella (chiavennasca / nebbiolo grape) which - although from the high grounds of Valtellina - truly reminds of nebbiolo from the low lands of Piemonte. Elegant and classy aroma with fine texture where some hints of smoke enhance the complexity and pleasantness. Best paired with medium-aged Parmigiano Reggiano. Nice ensemble

Second Sunday Group: Valtellina (Neil's): Notes of charred red fruit with some reduction. Red berry fruit and plum on the palate with plenty of acid and tannin. Decent finish. Good but not as expressive as others in the lineup.
