1/9/2020 - bacchus of knockholt Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis has evolved beautifully since I last drank it. Ruby with a garnet edge. Nose of black olive, spice, smoke, coal dust, black cherry and a palate that delivers everything the nose suggested. Lovely balance, melded tannins, good acidity, medium body. I like this wine a lot. |

1/5/2020 - wcf1946 Likes this wine: 87 pointsReasonably good Italian Super Tuscan blend. More barnyard earthy than most. Some complexity and structure, but mostly a good Italian table wine that goes better with food. I drank over 3 days. It held up well, but the barnyard flavor never went away. Pricey for $18 at Costco; not good QPR. Trader Joe's has an Italian red called "1967" at half the price and twice as good. |

11/17/2019 - wtianseter wrote: 87 pointsfirst glass was over acid and tart but bottle loosened up as it sat. Still lots of fruit and solid wine but even at the end of the bottle it was not in the best balance because of the acidity. |

9/22/2019 - wtianseter wrote: 92 pointsA great example of what to expect from an older VN Riserva. Dry mouth and that dusty Sangiovese grape. Still fruity but the tannin is even up front now. melding with the tobacco and tart berry. The middle is mouthful dry and a slight fruit residual and the finish is all about a medium tart and dry black tea tannin that hangs on "forever" |

1/31/2019 - Shrages wrote: 91 pointsNicely balanced. Characteristically Italian, but with less acid and more heft than that may imply for some. Old World but flavorful. It saved the day (night, actually) after I opened and tasted a horribly sweet, near-undrinkable, highly-rated “modern” wine from Barbanera — and promptly dumped it in the sink. |

1/14/2019 - mnuncorked Likes this wine: NRClear, medium ruby color with an brown hue. Presence of slow tears. Clean nose with medium- intensity nose: meaty/savory, sour cherry, black tea, balsamic. Dry with moderate acidity, medium+, grippy tannin and moderate alcohol. A medium body with moderate intensity flavors, shorter finish. Flavors match the nose. |

10/25/2018 - dunkertim Likes this wine: 92 pointsA nuanced Montepulciano, strong cherry and leather aroma. Berry on the palate, declining acidity and almost no tannic presence. May be on its last legs, but a wonderful change of pace in this varietal, which you usually can expect a punch in your mouth. This was reminiscent of a good kiss, romantic not platonic. My experience with two bottles shows why you want to keep bottles cellared for a while before you drink them. Balance was extremely good. I found myself consuming it very quickly because it showed and drank so nicely. |

7/9/2018 - shurpa14 Likes this wine: 88 pointsA very nice wine, but way too young. I’d leave this alone for 2-3 years. Tasted like a quality vino Nobile but was tight even after 5 hour+ decant. No garnet at all. I’d gladly drink it again, but it needs more time to rest. |
