Nose of black olive, spice, smoke, coal dust, black cherry and a palate that delivers everything the nose suggested. Lovely balance, melded tannins, good acidity, medium body. Some complexity and structure, but mostly a good Italian table wine that goes better with food. I drank over 3 days. It held up well, but the barnyard flavor never went away. Pricey for $18 at Costco; not good QPR. Trader Joe's has an Italian red called "1967" at half the price and twice as good. |

May be on its last legs, but a wonderful change of pace in this varietal, which you usually can expect a punch in your mouth. This was reminiscent of a good kiss, romantic not platonic.
