Tasty. Dark fruit, baking spice, touch of earth but generally pretty clean considering the age. Nicely midweight & well integrated. This was my last of 3 bottles & probably could have held on many more years.

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): A new producer to me. Very restrained and light on its feet, despite the dark and ripe fruit on full display. Reasonably mature at this point, and very nice minerality too. Impressive Napa cab that drinks in quite an old school way.

Napa Valley - November 2022; 11/16/2022-11/19/2022 (Napa Valley): Big red cherry on the palate with a touch of oak/tobacco in the foreground. More acid than most california pinots with fine tannins. Solid pinot offering.

Napa Valley - November 2022; 11/16/2022-11/19/2022 (Napa Valley): Tasted at the Teachworth property on Diamond Mountain. Feels fresh and light throughout from the big acidity and flowing tannins. Palate of cherry, currant and blackberry. Nice offering and I like the style.

Napa Valley - November 2022; 11/16/2022-11/19/2022 (Napa Valley): Nose of cola and black plum with a medium+ body. Smooth and elegant feeling, almost soft up front. Tannins become dustier on the mid palate and back end.

Napa Valley - November 2022; 11/16/2022-11/19/2022 (Napa Valley): Perhaps the most divisive wine of the trip in our group. Both the nose and palate had anise/licorice notes. I personally enjoyed it alot. On the nose, licorice, cigar box and some sweet cherry tomato? Palate continues with some anise, cedar, and blackberry. Mouthwatering acidity and tannins could still integrate further. Very interesting and thought provoking.

Very early review as opened a bottle. Dark ruby ink, with the aroma of black fruit, blueberry, leather, and oak flavors, and an excellent length. The wine has a good structure and appears well-made, and has palpable acid and grippy tannins that are beginning to soften. It is not sweet or fruit-forward. It appears to be made to cellar and should improve for a few more years and good to drink for a decade if not more.

01/23 - brown sugary aroma with vanilla flavor noted along with blueberry with crisp acidity

PnP (actually left it open for 30 min prior consuming).

This wine is well past it’s prime. Lacks structure and tannins. The body is medium plus, the fruit still present but it taste a bit oxidized. The mid palate still there and finish is just fair.

A quarter of the bottle was finished the following day (vacuumed and stored in the fridge) and it got 2-3 points lower.

This was originally started as a vanity effort by a woman from Texas who wanted to make wine in Napa and had the money to do it. But she ended up doing it quite well and this was one of her better efforts. All tannins resolved now with very elegant fruit and a long finish. Very nice wine.

In a good spot, on a plateau with probably a couple years left. Fresh dark fruits, some candied red fruit, some tobacco & soft leather, a touch earthy spice. Slightly round texture, fairly easy drinking at this point but went well with a steak.

Not as good as some other vintages. A bit astringent, lacks the lush mouthfeel and gorgeous black fruit profile of other vintages.

#1 - Make sure to decant this wine to remove the sediment. I've grown fond of the wines from Teachworth. This needs about an hour at least to open up. There are nice perfumed notes of florals that make me think Diamond Mountain. Black and heavy red fruit dominate with notes of chocolate, cedar, subtle baking spices, prunes, dried leaves. and bayleaf. This was a really nice wine. It had rounded tannins with a silky body that just flowed down easily. If you're planning to keep it, I think this has another 3-7 years but it's in a really good spot now and I would recommend enjoying today.

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim and medium intensity.

Strong nose of black currants, cooked raspberries, cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, dark chocolates, celery, coffee, peppercorn, herbs, tobacco leaf and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and very gentle.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, cherries, red currants, oak, smoke, light vegetables, pencil lead, tobacco, peppercorn, coffee, herbs and light wet leaves.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and red chili powder.

This is an impressive Pinot Noir from Napa Valley. Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Gentle and elegant.

Nicely balanced and still young, although very enjoyable right now. A little hot right now and I’d love to try it again in 3 years.

I let it open in the glass, and after 15 minutes it came to itself. I enjoyed the tangy spicy finish.

Nice to sip on all by itself or with food. I paired it with Brie cheese and crackers.

Aged for 11 months in neutral French Oak barrels. A small production of only 175 cases.

14.75% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$60.

Great Diamond Mountain District wine. Give it an hour to open up, complexity really starts to show in layers. This is in its window. Very elegant in style, not as heavy as I anticipated. Some red fruit but mainly dominated by dark fruits (black berry, cassis, black cherry) integrated with cocoa, coconut, and baking spices. Long finish.

I poured this wine blind to my friends and everybody LOVED it, one of them guessed 2007 Shafer Hillside Select! Everyone was in Napa Cabernet. Bold body, persistent tannins, nice balance and good finish. It was only beat by 2007 Abreu which is a RP 100PTS wine and tied with 2004 Messorio WS 100PTS!

Hint of blue notes, violets, concentrated and plush black fruits, sweet cassis, black plum, blackberry pie, sweet vanilla, prune, black pepper, graham cracker, cocoa, hot chocolate, just a hint of tobacco and cedar as it opens up more. Hard to believe this 2yrs in new french oak. Ripe strong Tannins, palate is well balanced and amazing today. Structure is great. Excited to see where this goes in the future especially at that 10-15 yr mark.

Opened prior to our NYE dinner at an Italian restaurant in Santa Rosa. It was a little acidic at first (no time for decanting) and got much better after the meal arrive. Solid wine.

PS: I don’t know what those prior reviewers are smoking! “Two hours decant…” The bottle itself says on the back to open the wine one hour prior consumption, it does NOT recommend decanting. And a 14 years old wine should never be decanted for such long time (with very few exceptions).

This hidden gem is singing now, ready to go with just a 10-20 min decant or opening around one hour before consumption.

We took this bottle to our Christmas Dinner at Bistro Jeanty in Napa. The wine has a medium plus body, firm tannin and acidity, sweet berries and tingling finish.

I love it!

Paired with a fatty Rib Eye Steak and it couldn't be any better. Bold, earthy, long finish and the best days still to come.
