  • Very nice on opening. Plenty of flavor but light on its feet. Was over the hill on the second day.

  • 50+5+14+17+8 Decanted for about two hours before drinking. Massive notes of cedar, graphite, expresso and dark fruit. Plush tannins with hints of oak, fleashy plum, bramble. Nice finish that lingers on. Excellent now or wait another 3-5 years.

  • Opened, decanted 1.5 hours, ran through Venturi as was still very tight. Consumed half bottle on night one, second half next night, both times with Prime Rib. Dark garnet/purple color, very tight nose even on night two, get a bit of cherry and vanilla. Drying tannins persist, black and red fruits with nuances of black pepper, green pepper, cigar box, hint of Iron/blood, even one taste seemed to scream spice cake, but it quickly dissipated. Clearly has many years to go before integrated, felt the alcohol was a bit hot on it both nights. First exposure to this wine, will be curious to try the other vineyard and blend in 3-5 years.

  • Wow this was a treat. This was the first of 2 Napa Cabs that were served blind to me that evening (the other was and 2005 Scarecrow). Big red fruit on the nose. In the mouth there was an eruption of licorice, exopresso beads, vanilla, pencil lead, and black currants. As much as I enjoyed and appreciated this wine, I cannot seee myself buy these cabs mainly in part to the fact that its not my style. But what a treat though

  • 3 Hours Decanting: Scents of earth, funk, granite, and brownies roll out of the glass. In the mouth there are vibrant flavors of black currant, blueberries, cacao nibs, a light hint of oak, and a lingering 30+ second finish on the palate that reminds me of the bitterness of dark chocolate.

15 Hours later: The oak has taken over and it reminds me a bit of other "typical" california cabernets. Egelhoff comes to mind when tasting this now. I think that this wine has the structure to age and that is where the oak influence is starting to show right now. I will not check back in on this wine for another few years...while it is enjoyable now it needs a little time.
