The color is a deep and dark garnet; real thick and opaque, can't see anything through it. The nose is loaded with vanilla and dark fruits, its 10 years in and smells young; touches of menthol and licorice; light florals of violets. Deep and unctuous. Its very fruit forward, heavy, getting plums, some cassis, stacked with vanilla, some tobacco box, moves to ripe tannis, gripping on the middle with moderate acidity. The finish has a bit of heat that overclouds the fruit and the tannins, finishes a bit bitter. This has room to run on the fruit and complexity, another 10 I'd wager. Feels like its leaving its youth. I just worry about the heat on the finish getting out of hand with the fruit subsiding to more tertiary characteristics.

Nice, youthful cab with notes of chocolate, plum, cinnamon. Drinking well now. Not sure this is built to age longer. Drink up.

No formal notes, but a decent Napa Cabernet for the price.

Excellent
Even on a cool early winter, this wine was very refreshing. Hint of melon, apple and a touch of herbs on the nose. Medium bodied with some nice refreshing citrus and pear notes merging together with very balanced acidity. Crisp, clean and long finish.

NY/NJ WLTV Offline at Anthony Davids (Anthony David's, Hoboken): Slightly funky, earthy nose, showing bell pepper, but also nice dark fruit in the mix. Smooth mouthfeel and medium-bodied with medium to medium high tannin and medium acidity. Medium long finish. A "restrained" style of Cali cab.

WLTV Tribeca Grill Offline 5.24.10 (Tribeca Grill NYC): Dark fruit on the nose with just enough earthiness to give it some character. Cherry fruit on the palate along with some earthy notes and bell pepper/pyrazine. Medium oak influence.

OUTSTANDING

I have to admit when I poured this out of the decanter and into the glass I had to do a double take and make sure I hadn't accidentally grabbed a young left bank beauty. Faint Brett on the nose blows off but only with some time in the decanter. The palate is beautifully complex with plum, vanilla, cedar and tobacco flavors all dancing together and wrapped underneath generous tannins. Troubadour's first Cabernet is surprisingly old world for my palate and I'm glad I have another bottle.

A warm and intoxicating aroma of blackberry cobbler, roasted fig and fresh cinnamon pastry unfolds as a subtle black licorice and sweet pipe tobacco essence round out a very hedonistic nose. The palate shows a balance of power and grace with both refined tannins and a deep core of dark plumb and brandy soaked cherries. The wine finishes with a touch of vanilla and sandalwood that lingers and completes a truly satisfying Cabernet that is both accessible and age worthy. Anticipated maturity 2010-2021.
