Tastes of blackberries, oak, cassis, currants and sour cherries. This is full bodied, with fine, grainy tannins, flowing smoothly across the palate to a nice, lengthy finish. A nice balance of fruit and acidity, this is sweet and savory. Great QPR. Well done! |

On the palate, herbal, vegetable, spices, and nut skins. Full body and bone-dry wine with well-integrated tannins and acidity. Great complexity and long finish. Well balance and delightful 23-year-old wine. We paired it with roasted pork leg which really brought the sweetness of the pork and the beauty of the wine. A gem at this price point! |

Urbina is an outstanding producer with Rioja wines that are light yet full bodied, elegant and that age beautifully. And a good value to boot. |

The nose is lifted, complex and nicely mature showing cuban cigar, graphite, gravel, ripe strawberry, toasted coconut, dill, rich cedar, dried cherry, shoe polish, nori, and a lovely topnote of grapefruit. The palate is silky and hugely appealing entering on the cherry fruit, turning to grapefruit on the mid-palate and finish. Acid is medium plus and tannin is medium minus, giving this freshness without an imposing structure. The finish is long built on grapefruit with a gravelly minerality. I absolutely loved this wine, almost considering a higher score. It's just massively appealing to drink right now. Appropriately priced at $55 CAD, even a bit of a value to be honest. |
