At this tasting however, the wine is coming across much better. It’s a fairly big powerful cab but the alcohol, oak and tannins have integrated. Requires 20 minutes of air to open up and soften. Good depth/concentration of ripe, rich blackberry and black raspberry fruit on the palate with notes of almonds and really nice medium+ tannins on the finish. Very good now but should be even better in a couple more years. |

A few notes here mention balance, and I agree, this has very cohesive seams between the elements. The 14.9%abv stands in stark contrast to 15.5% found in the OG Lot399 that I had last night. Makes this more intellectual than sexy. 5+11+17+9= 92 |

High levels of fine-grained tannins and elevated fresh acidity levels. 14.5% ABV is balanced by the wines ripe flavor concentration. 75% new french oak maturation for 18 months. This wine has the structure (high fine-grained tannin and elevated fresh acidity) and the flavor concentration to age beneficially over the next 8-10 years. Drink now with confidence or continue to cellar. |

It's a pretty big WWV Cab with lots of fruit and 14.9%, but the alcohol isn't noticeable at all on the nose or palate, and the fruit is dark yet well-proportioned and not overripe. There's a nice underpinning of tannin right now, but the wine needs it. Very easy to enjoy and like and will please many people. I can tell this was very well-made and the fruit is from a good vineyard. Enjoy these now and for another 5+ years easily. |

I like the lack of any alcohol astringency that I often find in over-ripe Viogniers and the fruit features nice tropical elements like papaya and grenadilla.
