8/22/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 92 pointsFabulous. Bright, long, intense, complex. White floral nose. Flavors of grapefruit and fresh cut grass predominate. Very versatile with different kinds of (sea)food. Excellent value. |

8/20/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 93 pointsDecanted for an hour. Color was deep red/purple. Bouquet of sandalwood, cinnamon, figs...and dark sweet grapes. Flavor really blossoms in the mouth broadly. Very deep and even now complex, though still fruity and sweet. Would wait several years to open next bottle. Lovely. |

8/18/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 90 pointsMedium bodied. Elegant bouquet. Strong, round, red fruit. Soft for a young Cab, easy to drink young. Good by itself or with lighter food. Did not need much time to open. Moderate, pleasant finish that was a still fruity but not cloying, and well balanced. Very nice. |

8/20/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 89 pointsDelicious. Medium to full-bodied. Cherries and blackberries, some pepper. Other varietals smoothed what could have been otherwise rough edges from the Cab to give it more of a fruity, softer character. Still with enough tannins to stand up to nice steak. Decent finish which was better the first day. Second day still tasted good at first but finish picked up a slightly sour note. Rating based on first day impression. |

8/9/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 94 pointsStunning, completely unexpected. Shared at a large, formal dinner, where everyone brought an interesting wine. This - and a 1985 Fonseca Port - were the standouts of the evening. Dark ruby red color. Spicy, full bouquet. Full bodied. Soft fruit at first that explodes with all sorts of flavors, followed by a mellow, balanced finish. Rasperries, currants, licorice predomniate. Notes of pepper, cinnamon, chocolate. Long finish. Outstanding. |

6/13/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 94 pointsAbsolutely fabulous. Did not decant. Warm, fruity bouquet. Medium body. Color perfect: deep bluish red; extremely balanced and refined. Red fruits predominate--strawberries on the nose, currants and maybe cranberries in the mid-palate, and all dried cherries at the end. Slighty spicy, complex finish, moderately long. Ravishing. Much better than the more expensive Clos Pegase Hommage from the same vintage. |

5/29/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 86 pointsToo sweet. Lacks complexity. Very pleasant honey, vanilla, maple bouquet. Starts with nice honey-vanilla, fig, date, brown sugar flavor, but quickly dissolves into sugary one-note finish with a short acidic bite. Not bad for the price, and honest - in that it is not trying to be anything more than it is. Good value dessert wine, but not a very good wine independent of price. |

5/29/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 89 pointsThis was really nice. Drink now at latest. Full, rich bouquet. Cherries, red fruit on attack, taking on slight oakiness toward finish. Fruit predomniates, with some acid though not as much as would be needed for more structure. Shy tannins. Medium body. Even red/violet color. Moderate finish...pleasant but not long. Not very complex. Good to drink alone or with food (olive, cheese, grilled beef). |

5/24/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 85 pointsSurprise...tasted pretty good, much better than I remember last bottle being. Decanted this time for an hour first. Dark even color not showing much evidence of age. Full bouquet. Flavor of leather, spice and blackberries, with muted tannins and round fruit. Finish not exceptional. Paired well with rich beef chile (not spicy) and cheddar cheese. Worked nicely. Drink now. |

5/23/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 88 pointsBeautiful deep yellow/gold color; fragrant, floral nose with a hint of lemongrass; started a little spritzy (another reviewer's word - spot on) at first but settled down after being open about 20 minutes; flavor was more complex than I expected, and pleasantly so: citrus, flowers, vanilla. Nice but not long finish. Texture was rich, chewy, and lively, and not at all cloying. More sweet than acidic now; I doubt it will improve much with further age. |

1995 Errazuriz Don Maximiano Founder's ReserveAconcagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon more |
5/22/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 90 pointsSurprisingly good; aged nicely; bouquet was herbaceous and a little spicy; flavor was complex and rich, dominated by dark fruit, oak, and with an inky note that paired perfectly with grilled beef and blue or cheddar cheese. Decent though not very long finish tasting of tar and exotic spices. |

5/7/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 90 pointsElegant, too tight at first despite age (was better a few years ago), but surprisingly long and full after having been decanted for a couple of hours. Color a stunning deep ruby-red. Bouquet was fragrant with a hint of vanilla. Taste of red fruit, currants, leather. |

5/1/2006 - Cal Bear wrote: 87 pointsColor was a gorgeous honeyed gold. Bouquet enticing, floral, a little spicy, not at all grassy. Flavor pleasant enough with fish (salt baked branzino), but alone it was pretty apparent that the wine was about 3-5 years past its peak. |
