Still bright and fresh, robust fruit, great, secondary softened tannins, but still lively acid. Everything you would want in a mature, old wine that still has life, fruit, structure, balance, length, all the things. Had with Ken, Sara, Linda for Ken’s birthday. It was the first bottle to disappear. Splash decanted early in the day, probably 6 to 8 hours before we drink it. Stellar. Great wine experience. |

Of note, had next to 2012 clos du Bourg Demi-sec that had crumbling cork and was oxidized. This showed fresher, thicker, denser, and even sweeter. Brilliant bottle |

8/20/2022 - Mwach Likes this wine: NRDrank At Subterraneum with Joe and Paul Costigan. Very easy and gentle, soft acid, nice secondary evolution. I wonder if it would evolve better with a cork than a screw cap. But it was lovely, only 7.5% alcohol, with soft, round, gentle flavors of pineapple lemon and grapefruit pith. Enjoyable, if lacking the acid and cut I normally like |

Somewhat muted nose aside from nail polish and varnish, with volatile acidity quality. Palate surprised me with predominant flavor of black licorice and some herbal minty flavors. The palate feel was somewhat slick and glossy, with acid much greater than tannin in terms of structure. Served with Christmas dinner. Hard to know what to make of this one without trying more. It was certainly not the peppery flavor profile I would’ve expected and wanted from 13 year old Cru Beaujolais. It was drinkable enough for the group to finish the bottle though. |
