Like a prior poster said, something seemed slightly off about this bottle. It seemed a little antiseptic. Is this a function of the wine being over the hill or something different. I am still sitting on a magnum, so I am a bit wary about where this wine is.

I didn't notice this being as over the hill as others. It seemed relatively fresh. Fruit, but in the Oregon style of pinot fruit. Secondary flavors prevalent, but hiding behind the dark fruits. The heat wasn't prevalent. Still holding up. My bottle had been cellared since delivery from Shea Wine Cellars.

Wonderful wine to sip while waiting for a Turkey to turn on the rotisserie. On the nose and the palate, the flavor that jumped to mind immediately was cherry pie. Not the cherries themselves, but that goopy filling. I can see some turned off by that profile, but at the right time it was terrific.

Unfortunately my last bottle. These are still going strong. Big nose as soon as it was opened. The fruit has faded a bit with secondary characteristics taking a bigger role. Bigger tannins than I expect for a Pinot.

Outstanding Chard. Terrific mouthfeel, wonderful nose and a cutting style. Not your average California butterbomb.

Has aged wonderfully. It is a larger pinot, but has tremendous balance. A nice antitode to a string of California Pinots, which are delicious in their own way.

This was a big pinot. Everything about it was big, from the thick, heavy bottle, to the deep nose to the tannins and strong flavor. I thought it was well integrated and was working perfectly this evening. Didn't think it had gone over the edge yet, but was working so well that there is no reason to wait to open either. A really great bottle of pinot.

Brick in color, with a very strong fruit nose of blackberry and rasberry. The tannins are well resolved and the wine is just delicious. I don't know if this is the sort of bottle that will "improve" much with more age, because it is in a great spot right now with the integration of the tannins.

Beautiful color, with tiny bubbles. On both the nose and palate it is strawberry all day, with great acidity giving it balance and leading to a very long finish. A very nice Champagne that seems pretty versatile as well.

Always a crowd pleaser. So smooth, with great fruit. This vintage seems a bit more balanced than the 2010s and 2011s. As always, there are the great Christmas spices to this Pinot.

Tremendous Chard. I keep expecting a butter oak bomb from the KB Chard's, but they surprise me with their balance. A clean fruit streak, a bit of minerality and great balance. More full bodied than a Burgundy, but not because of over the top oak.

Deep purple with a pink rim. Nose has a bit of menthol, along with blue/black fruits. On the palante, the tannins are very soft at this point, with great fruit. Again, blue/black fruits (plum, blackberry, blueberry) and menthol/fennel as well. In light of the soft tannins, I think this is ready to go, though I see no other sign of fading. A very nice bottle of wine both before dinner and during.

This one had that baking spice that I love in a KB really working. Nice fruit, very soft tannins, that nice spice. Tough to beat, though these bottles are pricey.

This reisling really blew people away. We drank it at a tasting menu between a burgundy and a Marcassin Chard and folks were really wowed by the strong mineral (almost metallic) streak that accompanied the great fruit. This wine is really terrific and a great example of what Australia can do with the noble grape. Only one left and I plan to hold onto it for a while.

Popped/poured during a tasting menu, when this was paired with a KB Gaps Crown. Fun to see how different the two pinots are. Very structured, subtle wine, the Shea. It teased a little bit as the flavors were not nearly as in your face as the KB. A great wine from a great vintage.

Just delicious. Not much more to say about these wines. They are super pleasing and easy to pop for just about any occassion. In this case, it went well with Penne Bucatini.

Popped and poured. Appears to be a synthetic cork. Several years in and this wine is still very fresh, with lots of fruit. The color is darker and there was a bunch of setiment to work around, but the wine didn't appear to have lost any of its delicious fruit. I don't see this going downhill in the near term, but no need to hold it either.

Decanted for 90+ minutes. Compared to the 2010 Kosta Browne Keefer Ranch. Cirq was tighter and less fruit forward, with a bit more of a green streak running through it. Very nice structure and not as round as the KB. A great wine.

Decanted for 90+ minutes. Delicious, round, fruit forward, with a bit of baking spice. All the typical descriptors of a KB, but more so. Compared to the 2011 Cirq Treetop Vineyard, which was tighter.

Not the fruit bomb I feared, but not as special a bottle as I had hoped. Popped and let it breathe for 30-45 minutes. Strong fruit, but balanced. The alcohol, though high on the lable, didn't jump out at me. A bit jammy, but not too much. Great grip. A nice bottle and its style matches my palate more than most Australian bottles these days.

Just awesome juice. Apple and stone fruit with a slate, mineral follow through. I'm going to sleep on the rest of my bottles, but couldn't resist popping a 2012 to see what all the hype was about.

Again, brick red, but showing some stronger fruit on this bottle. Rasberries for sure. This is not California fruit bomb, but the fruit isn't hidden behind secondary characteristics either. A nice expression of what Oregon can do.

Popped and poured. Brick red color. The nose was rustic and showed a mix of rasberries, mushrooms and tar. On the palate, drying tannins, but not to austere. Medium bodies. Again, rustic in a very good way. A very nice bottle of wine and was a steal for the price. No need to rush to open this bottle, but it fit the menu for the evening and I suspected we weren't opening it too early either.
