2003 Val di Suga Brunello di MontalcinoSangiovese more |
10/16/2009 - Redzed wrote: 92 pointsThis is a very good Brunello. After decanting for an hour, the wine delivered the usual addictive nose, earthy, savoury, complex. Taste and length keep your attention. Lovely tannin structure with fresh acidity that makes this a superb food wine. Have enjoyed a couple of bottles now - consistent experience. |

2/18/2008 - Redzed wrote: 93 pointsWhat a mixed bag this wine has been. Must be the corks. I would rate it anything from 75 to 93 points. This bottle was one of the best rieslings I have had. So elegant, still with a nice freshness on a fullish body (for a riesling). So sad when the bottle was empty and there was no more. I had 6, shame others were not this good. |

5/8/2008 - Redzed wrote: 87 pointsVery pleasant. Light ruby coloured. Red fruit flavours, cherry like, but quite spicy. Dry finish with good length. Actually goes great with food. It's light body makes it very quaffable. Very different to the juicy 2004. I think Tommaso has change the style? Good value. |

5/6/2008 - Redzed wrote: 93 pointsWas rather closed and 'incomplete' upon opening. Had a small glass and noticed it began opening rather well. Palate started to fill out, flavours of red fruit and spice started to reveal themselves. Left the bottle and resumed consumption with friends about 4 hours later. It was a huge hit! By this time there was so much going on in this wine. Very complex, with a firm tannin structure. These tannins together with an array of spices balance the fruit sweetness to perfection. A beautiful wine that is only just starting to show its true colours. Will be even betterl in a few years. The aromas evolving in the emptied glass became very addictive indeed. |

4/16/2008 - Redzed wrote: 100 pointsProbably one of the most remarkable wines I have ever had. Amazing concentration, cross between a Vintage Port, Australian Rutherglen Tokay, and a Sauternes - and yet completely different. Spices, dried fruits, berries ... The acid and tannins perfectly balance out very high sweetness to where you hardly notice it. It is its own style with complexity that makes description rediculous. Incredible length and all delivered in a 12% alc/Vol package. Served it slightly chilled which I think was the right call. Enjoyed with cheese after dinner. Perfection! |

12/26/2007 - Redzed wrote: 95 pointsYipppeee! Found two more bottles. This is a great wine drinking so well now. Enticing nose. Perfect balance, captivating complexity, smooth no hard edges and long legth. That distinctive aged Edelstone mixed herb, berry over earthy flavours. Had another bottle a month earlier than this. Just as good. Even made the 1978 Grange look well over-priced. |

9/28/2007 - Redzed wrote: 93 pointsThis is a fabulous wine after a good decant and breathing period. It really opens up. Cherry, earthy, very complex and long. So sad when the last drops were 'squeezed' from the decanter. French oak influence is quite agreeable. |

The crashendo builds and lasts, seemingly forever. Then you realise you cannot wipe the smile off your face. Incredible. |

Great structure and length with classic Moss Wood adictive flavours. Will further improve I am sure over the next 5 years at least. |

7/29/2007 - Redzed wrote: 96 pointsAbsolutely fabulous wine. Concentration plus! Exploding aromas from the decanter. Wine evolved over 2 hours. A little too alcoholic first few minutes but this settled in the glass & decanter. Rasins, figs, dried fruit. So much seductive flavour that goes on and on. One of the very best Italian wines I have ever had! |
