The tongue has more tannins and tight fruit than the nose would suggest. This wine would benefit from a couple more years of aging or some decanting to open it up a bit. Even so it will be drier than its nose suggests. It paired well with a fennel & sausage pizza with an olive oil base, and dark chocolate. |

It is a blend that starts out big dark fruit, think dark cherry, boysenberry and black currant. The finish is filled with tannin, subtle black peppercorn and the concentration of dried fruit at the very end. So good with food and mesmerizing alone. It had many earthy herbal tones, as well as graphite, and molasses. It opened up quite a bit the second day, and all of these notes blended together more harmoniously. It is a wine that shows how diverse this varietal can be. Definitely a pleaser, but not necessarily a "crowd" pleaser. |

It is also delicious on its own. The wine coats the glass with very pronounced legs. The fruit does not dominate the nose. There is a little medicinal funk/ gentle antiseptic funk present as well. The taste is dark rich berry and cherry with some chocolate and dessert spice. The tannins leave a dry feel at the end. Is suitable to drink immediate, but a couple years will not hurt this wine. |

The dried fruit smell feels out of place because it is only a 2019. Maybe it is a hint that it will age fast. The dried fruit does NOT carry over to the tongue. The tongue is a wonderful blend of fruit forward dark cherry, blackberry and black current. The feel makes a case for drinking this wine now. The tannins are subtle. If I didn’t know it was a 2019, I would not have identified it to be that young. |

The funk is perfect and definitely has notes of truffle. The funk comes first then you get a fruit forward wave of cherry, current and maybe even a little cranberry. The ending of this wine is more bold chewy sweet dried fruit. Paired amazing with formaggio plin with white truffles shaved on top. Amazing! |
