The saturated blackberry and blackcurrant floral fruit has a rich and chalky texture to it, that in turn is balanced by a subtle, yet crunchy acidity keeping things fresh and pure. Apple skin flavors appear in the mid-palate, that add an intriguing bitterness along with cola and damp earth for complexity. Although the sweetness of the fruit runs throughout, ferrous notes, along with black tea round out the finish, ending the wine on a more serious note. All in all, an excellent pinot that combines new world approachability without sacrificing its old world varietal character. |
