Salvioni is probably my favorite Brunello producer, and this vintage just doesn’t have the elegance, precision, and floral notes of better vintages. I would pass on this vintage altogether. |

On this night it completely outdid a 1990 Latour which we enjoyed over a five hour dinner with my wife side by side at Hotel Bel Air. Hard to believe considering I paid more than double for the bottle of Latour. |

A beautiful wine with all the elements one would expect, but on this night it was outclassed and flat out beat by the 1990 Lynch Bages. Hard to believe but both my wife and I unanimously agreed. There was an element of barn that dragged this down. Sadly this was my first time having the 1990 (a favorite vintage of mine) and I don’t think I would buy another bottle for the price this fetches these days. Just not worth it. |

Stacked up side by side with an 82 Mouton, 82 Latour, and an 82 Lafite, I have to say this was barely edged out by the Lafite and Latour. The Lafite carried an elegance that continued to shine as time went on, but the reality is that we were splitting hairs and for the price differential, this is hands down the best wine by a mile. A truly impressive performance. |

So fresh, no bricking, beautiful deep color…quite charming with loads of leather cigar box and all the tertiary flavors. Sadly there was little fruit left. Still a pleasure to sip savor and enjoy on its 50th birthday with no change on day two which was impressive. |

So elegant and balanced with a lifetime ahead. Opened, had a glass and left the rest of the bottle for the next day at cellar temp with cork in which was the right decision. Much more fruit forward and open on day two. A pleasure to enjoy but a wine to store. |

That said, this is an excellent bottle. Concentrated yet very elegant and refined. If opened, you need a minimum 5 hour decant. This will continue to get better and better with time. A stunning wine. |

This has one of the most beautiful noses I’ve ever experienced. Perfume of violets crème de cassis leather tobacco. The color is dark and brooding. Deep and concentrated yet regal with incredible elegance and balance. This is a wine that needs coaxing and not a pop and pour. Those who wait both in the cellar or upon opening are rewarded. The wine just keeps opening more and more and getting better and better hour after hour. Magnificent. A value relative to others of the same vintage and stature. |
