12/20/2020 - rerail84 Likes this wine: 89 pointsMagnum. Stood bottle upright for 24 hrs. Capsule showed some signs of seepage, but we purchased from the winery, so we were not too worried. Base neck fill. Cork was saturated but came out in one piece. Beautiful aromas of stewed fruit and a touch of spice on the nose and wonderful bricking on the color. On the palate, the tannins had all but faded, leaving a fairly sharp acidic mouthfeel. The wine continued to evolve in the decanter for hours. Overall, the wine was not spectacular, but the experience of opening a definitely drinkable wine after 34 years is nothing short of amazing. |
