Aromas of baking spices/mixed spices, raw almond, floral and warm or burnt jam. The aroma tells me this is a 2009. On the palate this has cherries, unripe red currants, raspberry possibly. It shows somewhat hot, as in there is good fruit initially but then the acid and alcohol rise up quickly in the mid-palate and over take the fruit flavors, making the wine uninteresting. It's out of balance. It's great with food, we sat around at the end of the night sipping this with cookies and various other treats and it was really pleasant. On it's own it's hot and a little messy, which can be a good thing sometimes but not this time.

Drinking really well at present. Had this bottle with a fungi pizza and grilled asparagus, which was excellent. This presents as soft fruit and rounded mouth feel, floral without being perfumed or cloying. Exceptional balance of acidity and fruit.

Another year, another killer bottle of Teutonic Rosé. Less austere than previous vintages, this one is a bit fruitier, showing delicious strawberry and watermelon flavors. Decently balanced, refreshing acidity. I like this vintage a lot, I'll happily be buying more.

Right out of the 'fridge this reminds me of yellow raspberries on the nose. As it warms it takes on more citrus notes, cantaloupe, asian pear and with a large amount of acidity able to be detected through aroma. Very refreshing on contact, juicy white pear, lime and lemon zest abd under-ripe apple show on the palate with strong acidity that rises up immediately and is present throughout. Feels from weight and roundness that it was aged in some oak but I don't know exactly. I really like this. It's not typical of the few white Pinot Noir wines I've had in the past, this is more like a typical white wine in my opinion, but it's something completely different, which I am always in to.

Wow! Blind I would never guess this is German wine. It smells like a ripe year in the Dundee Hills of Oregon initially, ripe strawberry, cherry, forest floor, barnyard. It's got that funky nose you recognize in good Oregon wines, smells awesome. The palate is all bright, fresh strawberry, cherry and red tea notes, great texture and acid. The tannins are on the soft side and settle in the cheeks. This is drinking REALLY well right now, super enjoyable wine and a complete ringer in a blind tasting for an Oregon wine, IMO. Killer.

Huge nose, rich red/black fruit, fresh asphalt, ash, tobacco. Smells like a huge wine. Tastes like a huge wine as well, long, intense palate of black fruit, tobacco and structure. The alcohol is up there as it somehow overwhelms the intense flavors in the mid-palate and finish, muddling up the experience a bit. Overall this was quite a bruiser, it paired well with the steak but was sort of lost during the rest of the meal. I feel like this is a wine done in a particular style, if you like these huge Washington reds you will likely enjoy this. If you don't, well, you won't. I'm middle of the road on it.

This smells absolutely awesome, ripe honeycrisp apple, cake batter, citrus. Yum. On the palate the acid is poppin' hard with grapefruit, satsuma orange citrus notes and ripe apples. The acid helps drag the finish out a while. Super delicious Champagne, this is one of those fruity, in-your-face Champagnes that talks really loudly and you love everything it has to say. I really enjoyed it.

Killer nose, ripe currant, straight-forward cabernet fruit, sweet tobacco. On the palate this is classic California cabernet with soft edges, good complexity and relaxed but present structure. We tasted this wine next to an '05 Quilceda Creek and that made me realize why I liked this wine so much in the past, this wine is very well balanced, not overly intense and provides you a long time to revel in the experience without blasting you with alcohol or structure. This is really good, classic-ly styled cabernet. Super delicious. I wish I had more.

Pale red ruby colored. Initial aromas of sweet red fruit, red licorice, tea and with some light savory-ness. Lighter intensity and elegant in the mouth, light-to-medium bodied. Cherry juice, raspberries, and red tea show most strongly. Tannins are barely showing and come in very late, the acid provides lift and freshness to the fruit and helps carry the finish, which is considerable considering the intensity throughout. This is killer wine, I really like it, would and will happily buy again.

Open 3 hours: This shows a lot of herbal notes on the nose, anise, clove, parsley, black pepper, menthol. The fruit isn't as easy to describe, perhaps plums or old, dry blueberries. It tastes lightly like blueberries, plums and young blackberries. The pepper on the nose shows very lightly on the palate. Ends with a big burst of acidity and tart fruit, and is lightly tannic in the finish. This is an interesting bottle of wine, perhaps would be better with food than on it's own. This states only 11.5% abv on the bottle but doesn't come across as light or austere. Overall a really cool bottle of wine worth checking out if you are interested in WV Syrah.

Smells pretty good, the fruit is cherries and red currant along with black pepper and sweet tobacco. Nicely textured with medium weight. Cherries show first, sweet tobacco and light chocolate notes as the wine finishes. Nice acidity throughout, tannins are on the lighter side but are present. Drinks pretty well on it's own but is quite enjoyable with chocolate chip cookies.

Open 24 hours: interesting aromas, strawberries and buttered movie theater popcorn. Really weird but I'm digging it. Swirling the wine heavily gets some earthy aromas as well. The palate shows intense cherry and black currants. There is strong acidity that runs though the entire palate and turns somewhat tart as the wine finishes, reminding me of pomegranate fruit. Medium length finish, it doesn't end short or long. Nice wine, J said it was better yesterday than it is today.

Interesting aromas on the nose, showing both savory and bright fruit aromas with floral, herbal and light tobacco notes. The palate shows bright red cherries initially, turning somewhat savory and spicy as the wine finishes, showing cinnamon and clove. The light herbal and tobacco notes from the nose show as well. The finish leaves sweet red fruit and some acid. We enjoyed this with pasta fagioli and this was a wonderful pairing. On it's own after dinner it is a bit less impressive but still very delicious. Overall a really delicious wine, I need to start checking in on my '09s.

Ripe fruit aromas, honeyed apples, ripe pears, mineral. Smells really good overall. The palate shows ripe juicy apples, light peach, pear, honey and a hint of orange melon. There is good backing acid that keeps the residual sugar from ever being too much. Overall a really nice Riesling that is drinking well now.

Crazy complex nose, red tea, floral, potpourri, red fruit, lightly herbal, mint. Smells awesome. The palate shows similar red tea, floral, bright red fruit and a light evergreen herbal, almost menthol component. Juicy texture and really nice structure, firm tannins and bright well integrated acidity. Overall a very complex wine. When Dan and I were drinking this he described this as "Burgundian" and I would agree. This is really nice wine, definitely one of the more interesting 2012's I've had thus far. 92+

Aromas of dark cherries, blackberries and sweet tobacco. Dark fruit flavors show on the palate, blackberry, plum, cherries. As the wine finishes it turns almost a bit tart or sour, leading into pomegranate and grapefruit. Earlier I detected a savory note on the finish, a couple hours after opening I'm not getting it as much. The fruit definitely dominates the palate now, it had a light meaty component closer to opening. J says there is a bit too much acidity and heat on the wine now. I don't get that as much but it definitely seems like a 2012 wine in flavor and intensity. 89+

Aromas of red currant, strawberries, grape stems and grass. Smells good. Nicely textured in the mouth with flavors of bright slightly under-ripe strawberry, red currant and cherry. Strong acidity rises up in the mid-palate and the tannins have a gentle grip on the gums and cheeks. The structure shows good integration. J says it tastes like under-ripe strawberries, minerals and fennel. I like it quite a bit, J not so much.

Consumed over three days: This wine is hot, jammy and a bit awkward. I know that a lot of WA Syrah wines are jammy and exhibit a similar flavor profile, this has those flavors without the density to back up the alcohol or acid, for that reason it doesn't feel integrated and comes off a bit awkward. The flavors on both nose and palate are mostly fruit with a slightly herbal edge. Kind of a let-down at the price point. (Getting into this wine tonight after dinner my first thought on smelling the wine was: I GOT THAT DRANK THAT PURPLE DRANK THAT PURPLE DRANK I GOT THAT DRANK)

On opening this was a little closed or tight. It took an hour or so before the aromatics and palate started to show off. 3+ hours in the nose shows dark chocolate, young blackberries, ripe black currant and a hint of toffee. Medium-bodied. The slightly under-ripe blackberries and currants show on the palate with a light sense of richness as the wine finishes. The acid is balanced and the tannins are present but are gentle and do not overwhelm the flavors. The finish isn't intense but drags on for a good time, I'm finding a rich flavor on the palate long after I swallow that I can't put my finger on. J says "the flavor on the finish is bitter orange, walnut skins and a bit of dark chocolate". Overall, this is good wine considering the price point, at $36 I consider it a buy. Going over the 100 point scale help page, I would put this somewhere between "very good" and "excellent", so 90 points sounds good.

The nose is mostly fruit-driven, ripe cherries and blackberry jam, with hints of pine resin and possibly rosemary. Juicy palate, wow, juicy ripe red and dark fruit, cherries, ripe blackberry, super-ripe black currant. The acidity is well integrated with the fruit and the weight is medium-to-light bodied, so despite the ripeness this comes across fresh and easy on the palate. The tannins are pretty light, they only show a very relaxed grip on the checks after multiple sips. The finish isn't terribly long but the wine finishes clean and gentle. Overall this is really nice wine that I would say is drinking well now, and will for a few years easily.

The nose shows a nice aroma of fresh yellow apples, ripe pineapple and a touch of oak. Overall not overly intense aromas, on initial tastes I found it rather mute among other wines. Medium-heavy weight in the mouth, the pineapples deliver on the palate with apples and rich orange melon. The acid is well balanced to the intensity of the palate, if a little behind it. The rich, somewhat ripe fruit flavors are what show most strongly and persist through the finish nicely. The wine has enough body and intensity to stand up to hot food too, which I'm finding nice. It's a really nice wine to drink. Overall it's a straight-forward, new world Chardonnay that I enjoy drinking but I don't find that complex, at least currently. I love this producer's Pinots, while I found this delicious I expected a bit more considering the price point.

Smells wonderful, apples, limes, melon, oak and salt. The palate has lighter body with nice intensity, there is a sense of richness to the initial fruit on the palate. As the wine transitions into the finish, a spike of acid and lees-y tartness and texture can be felt, almost providing a tannic feel. The flavor lasts long into the finish and the acid really coats the mouth, settling into the cheeks and gums firmly. As I take more sips, the acid is a bit much and begs for some cheese or other rich food. Nicely integrated already although I would say the acid could use a year in bottle to integrate better and maybe mellow out a bit, hopefully. Overall a wonderful bottle of wine, really complex, and absolutely killer at $24 a bottle.

This wine changed considerably with time in glass, initially it was showing lots of earth and mushroom on the nose, over time the nose is all tart cherries and roses with a musty, loamy note. In the mouth it is lighter bodied, showing young cherries with an dark earthy note under the fruit flavors. The fruit turns tart and lightly sour as the wine finishes. Once the fruit flavors relax, there is a light earthy, mushroom note. The acid is fine and pairs nicely with the fruit flavors, tannins are present but not aggressive. Overall a nice wine, showing a bit closed tonight in my opinion. It shows good complexity and nuance, perhaps more time in bottle will relax the tart, near sour edge the fruit currently shows.

The nose smells of dark fruits with hints of coffee and chocolate. Smells like a big wine. Not overly heavy on the palate, I agree on previous notes that the Syrah heavily influences the palate, showing good ripe fruit and some peppery, earthy flavors. Nice length through the finish, the acid and tannins meet the intensity of the flavors well and show good integration. I can't fault anything about this wine, it smells and tastes really nice. The fruit is still ripe and fresh in this and the structure is all there so I would honestly be interested to see this age a bit longer, although it is drinking nicely already.
