Lovely wine. Deep colour for a rosé, and much more structure than most. Fresh fruit core, balanced with acidity. Interesting to drink by itself, but came into its own with food.

Deep orange colour. Some initial funk when first opened, but quickly blew off. Nose of caremelised apple and pear. Pleasantly burnt flavour. Real acid drive. Served with a desert of custard tart and fruits, but was much better drunk by itself - desert was too sweet compared to the sweetness / acidity of the wine.

Overall lovely to drink a wine over 50 years old full of flavour and vibrancy. Depth and charm, but not subtle.

Wonderful wine, but feels like it is developing quickly - may be one to drink over next few years rather than the very long haul. Slight oxidative note emerging. I liked it - hint of sherry - but given this has been professionally stored hints that this is probably at its best now and next few years.

That oxidative note though could make this a wonderful pairing for rich creamy cheeses - Brie, Camembert.

Beautiful wine, drinking very well now. 1st of 6.

Cork split on opening but seemed in good condition.

Classic chateauneuf aromas, somewhat restrained but very tempting.

On the palate very full, but wonderfully balanced. There is a touch of heat from the alcohol level, but with just the right level of fruit and structure to keep it all together. Tannins feel softened and integrated. Rich, deep fruit.

Some great wines are angular and have some dimension that dominates. This is in a lovely place where all the elements are integrated and in harmony. Hard to see chateauneuf getting much better than this.

No sign of deterioration or tiredness, likely to last many years yet.

This wine feels like it has finished its youthful flourish and may be beginning a long middle age. Beautiful golden colour.

Aroma with hints of pineapple and cinnamon. Pear, quince, apple on the palette. Almost a savoury undertow.

Quite robust, and I had this over a few nights using coravin with tagine (with apricots and almonds) and another night with beetroot and chickpea dahl. Lovely combinations.

Years of life left in this, decades probably.

Delicious. High acidity but less weight than expected. Great fun, enjoyed by all as BBQ accompaniment. Way to easy to drink, and drink…

Good to drink now, but structure to age. Good VFM, definitely looking out for more.

This is superb wine. There’s a zest and energy to this that makes it mouth watering. Very mineral, but there’s fruit as well - a wine to savour. Hugely regretting just buying a single bottle…

Gosh, almost treacle-ish. This was a bottle that had been knocking around kitchen for years without much care, but survived seemingly unscathed.

Very deep, rich and extremely sweet. Drank with a very rich Gorgonzola cheese - absolutely fabulous pairing. Salty richness from the cheese against the sweetness and acidity of the wine. Yum!

Every sip had a mass of fruit flavours: melon, peach, lychee.

Lovely now, but sure to be great for years to come, and it would be great to see how this matures (but kicking myself for not buying more than one of this when it was available). Not cheap, but if value is about what you get for the money then this is in the right place.

Very impressive. Beautiful golden colour. Subtle nose, slightly earthy, but rich full texture. Delicious. Sweetness is there, but in proportion.

Bottle taken to restaurant (Jikoni in London) and paired beautifully with Asian fusion food predominantly vegetarian, including curries and fruit flavours.

Drinking beautifully. All the elements you want in a good Sauternes are here, singing together in harmony. There’s a multi layered depth of flavours, but also a lightness about the whole thing. Irresistible.

Having enjoyed the 1989 Huet Haut-Lieu Moelleux Premiere Trie so much (and looking forward to the rest of a full case over years to come) I was intrigued to try this, and a single bottle on sale was too much to resist.

Condition was very good - cork in good state, 3/4 soaked. Fill excellent. No mustiness. Slightly deeper colour than H-L PT, deep orange, copper, verging towards brown.

Aroma was restrained, but delightful - verging towards hints of figs, dates, molasses.

On tasting it was exceptional - wonderfully intense, each sip reverberating. Beautifully rich, the acidity holding everything in balance. Paired with saucisson and goats cheese it was a lovely match. Finished up the dregs on day 2 and it was still in great shape - maybe better? (Maybe worth decanting these wines a few hours before serving?).

Not as light as the Haut Lieu Premiere Trie, and it does feel a little more mature, but gaining character in return. I suspect it will continue to age well.

(When purchasing I also got a 1989 Huet Le Mont ‘Fin de Presse’. It will be interesting to compare in due course…)

Deep inky garnet purple, and aroma hinting at black cherries and blackberries. On tasting there’s a serious punch - the tannins are all well integrated but this isn’t subtle. A tumbling profusion of flavours, impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed over a few days (no obvious deterioration on day 2 or 3).

Cracker, as ever. Drank over a week (stored in fridge), no obvious deterioration, if anything gained some complexity.

Last bottle gone… Hope the 2013s in the cellar can match this.

Drank over a few days of family Christmas meals. Long, supple, well balanced. Good to drink now, but plenty more to come I suspect, all the components are there for good ageing.

Christmas Day wine, decanted an hour before lunch.

Rich, supple, but lacking a bit of complexity and limited aroma. Good, but not great.
