I opened it, and it smelled like sour apple juice and vinegar. In examining the bottom of the cork, there were more cracks and grayish slimy mold. I didn't taste it because the smell was very overpowering and bad. So disappointed. I'm not sure if it was my fault with storage, because I have had this bottle for quite some time. I don't have a proper cellar, so it's possible the climate was too dry. |

5/15/2014 - JeffnShari0614 Likes this wine: 89 pointsSlow legged, full bodied nose of dark fruit. Bright fruit on the palate, heavy, and mild/medium tannins. Nice long finish. I like it a lot, but prefer it in winter with foods that offset the acidity like cheese. Goes well with red sauce pasta dishes as well. Enjoy with a meal or on your couch! |

5/15/2014 - JeffnShari0614 Likes this wine: 92 pointsI absolutely love this wine! Medium legs, medium bodied, beautiful aromas on the nose of fruit and earth. Very bright and naturally fruity wine that balances acid well against sweetness. The finish is medium/short... but prepare yourself... have more than one bottle on hand as you will need multiple after the first sip of this beauty! Great hybrid! |

2/12/2013 - Snoman wrote: 87 pointsGuessing this was about 3-5 years after release, a NV gift from an east coast relative. Made in Rhode Island, a blend of Lemberger, Cabernet Franc and Chancellor was surprisingly fresh, and did look, smell and taste like an Austrian Blaufrankirsch (same grape as Lemberger)! Very clean and refreshing, versatile food wine, and nicely done. Scored in consideration of source, and good winemaking. |

12/27/2012 - wine30flight Likes this wine: 88 pointsTo my mind, Virginia is premier Cab Franc country in the US - but the Rhode Island shore makes a strong showing for itself with this bottle from Sakonnet. Not as robust as its cousins from Virginia, but very nice, with a unique hint of tea. Give it a few years and you'll have something special. |

12/27/2012 - wine30flight Likes this wine: NRThe winemaker bills this as a "conundrum of five red grape varieties," which is usually a sure way to get me to take a sip. It doesn't disappoint, offering a unique cherry vanilla theme throughout. A nice winter wine with an easy finish, definitely superior to their "Cock of the Walk Red" that immediately followed on their winter 2012 tasting lineup. |
