보르도 우안 메를로의 매력을 느낄 수 있는 향. 다만 구조감과 힘은 다소 부족했음.

Aromas of berries and soot. Tannic and fairly tight on the palate. Perfectly enjoyable now if you like your wines young, or perhaps hang on to it for a couple of years to see how it develops. Paid $37CAD. There are better values to be had, so probably not a repurchase.

A blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). Aged for 15 months in French oak barriques. Tasted blind.

Deep and quite opaque garnet color with somewhat developed brick red hue and a little bit of powdery deposit. The nose feels developed and pretty complex with mature aromas of leather, earthy sous-bois, dried figs, some animal funk, a little bit of withered flowers, light wood tones of pencil shavings, a hint of sweet mocha oak and a touch of ripe red plums. The wine is medium-bodied, firm and somewhat warm on the palate with pretty dry and quite mature flavors of dried figs, leather, some black cherry tones, a little bit of tart dark berries, light chocolatey oak tones, a hint of cedar and a touch of sweet mocha. The wine is still pretty structured with the high acidity and firm, grippy tannins. The finish is quite long, pretty grippy and complex with tertiary flavors of perfumed floral tones, leather, some sweet oak spice, a little bit of mocha, woody hints of pencil shavings and a touch of pruney dark fruit.

A developed Bordeaux blend that feels like it is on its plateau of maturity right now: as the oak tones are still somewhat noticeable, one can imagine the wine must have been pretty oak-driven when it was young. However, now most of the oak has integrated wonderfully with the tertiary fruit flavors and although the structure still promises a lot of more aging potential, the fruit flavors seem to have very little to no room for further development - this wine feels like it has reached its peak and there is no direction from here but down. However, the wine will most likely keep for years more, so there is no real hurry - as long as one remembers that most likely any further cellaring won't be rewarded. A great example of nicely developed modern Bordeaux blend with great, firm structure. Great value at 25,90€.

As before - drinking at its peak - overall smooth and mellow as described below.

Not meeting QPR.

Yikes for the price i paid...this is something i can get for 15$ easy. Paying for region without doubt.

Dark red in glass, nose is light with dark fruit and subtle smokey notes. Palate is medium bodied, a little sharp with acid and coating tannin. Get some dark strawberry/blackberry qualities with light smoke on the finish (short/medium). This is already 6 years old, and i don't know if holding this for longer will make this better.

Dark and Oaky the first few sips were nice but somehow the oakyness built up for me and drinking it became less and less pleasant.

Really heavy oak both on the nose and palate. There was some decent dark fruit and slight herbaceousness on the palate as well.Firm tannins. However, the oaky aromas did dominate and it reminded me of some cheap bordeaux wines that rather should be used in making food than drinking.I am a little "allergic" to oak smothered wines.

Didn't really know what to expect but it turned out to be quite plesant. Mid palate seemed a bit hollow, otherwise well made and lively in the mouth.

This wine continues to stun me . Not imported into the UK as it is surely too expensive at the cellar door for a Montravel .

It has however all the attributes of a top quality St.Emilion. A wonderful bouquet of vanilla and cherries , terrific length marvellous balance - superb

Château Grand Piquey 2004, Sauternes, 13.5 pabv; Dorothy Lane Market, Kettering, OH; Wine Warehouse, Los Angeles, CA. From a half-bottle.

Orange with a hint of brown. Wine is full-boded and shows lots of sheeting; cotton candy and dried apricot dominate fruit, along with a little wax and melon; doubt if it will show much more complexity right now.

Relatively sweet; mannitol/cotton candy; bright but ripe, moderate acidiy and fruitiness. Evidence of lots of white-wine tannins in a fairly tactile wine. Waxy melons here on palate, too.

Simple, pleasurable, and fairly rustic Sauternes.. I'd get some at a reasonable price. Better with food. 86/100. A good QPR, I seem to recall. Cleanly made and will evolve positively in cellar.
