Double decanted and let breathe for 30 mins in glass before trying. 100% Pinot Noir from the Keeler Estate Vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills in the Willamette. Spends some months in 15% new 85% neutral French oak, with some time in concrete eggs/terracotta amphora.

Pours a dark, almost dried-blood red in the glass. Color is surprisingly intense. Watery rim The nose has an overwhelming odor of manure. Not barnyard funk, not sour beer, manure. Disappointing given my last experience with a Keeler Estate bottle (also very Brett-y), but will let breathe before coming to a conclusion and trying. As it airs it’s smelling less like manure but still overwhelmingly of Brett. You have to really strain to get even the tiniest bit of fruit. On the palate the first thing that strikes me is the acidity. It’s incredibly high. This has to be flawed. The palate is pure acidity, Brett, but no discernible fruit. Tannins are nonexistent. Watery thin on the palate. Brett aftertaste too.

I don’t know what to make of this producer. I had a poor experience with their white blend, and this bottle is flawed in some way or just repulsive. Not going to rate it, but will post notes anyway. I’m not very familiar with flaws. This was a Diam closure, so supremely unlikely (impossible?) to be corked. Curious what else it could be.
