12/28/2023 - SnobNouveau Likes this wine: 93 pointsFantastic, still fresh. Brioche, yeast, and pear nose. Apple, puff pastry, honey pallete. Some oak. Satisfying long finish. Won’t get better, but probably will hold at peak for another year at least. |

12/3/2023 - Apeek19 Likes this wine: 96 pointsGreat wine. Peach and beeswax on the nose. Acidic but balanced on the palate. Not detecting any oak that’s not balanced. Suspect this can age at least a few more years and look forward to seeing it develop. I have been drinking a fair bit of Chave Blanc lately and couldn’t be happier to have found this. |

11/23/2023 - Geaux Tigers wrote: 93 pointsPnP but aired out in bottle over 2 hrs. Blackberry, forest floor, cola, mushrooms, evergreen underbrush. Seemed past prime and more BDX than Napa. Good, but not as good as it should have been for the price! 93, was expecting much, much more! I’m guessing this bottle was likely off as my prior experiences were much better. Oh well, win some, lose some, drink some! |

9/30/2023 - cab_fran Likes this wine: NRI’m learning that it’s hard for me to score these CdP-style white wines. It was fresh and tasty - but overall not a big hit with appetizers at family dinner. I may have served it too cold (2+ hrs chill in fridge). No rush - it seems the wine can age. |

9/24/2023 - drmarc61 Likes this wine: 93 pointsSurpringly, this wine has gained depth and intensity. More pepper on nose and palate. Stewed raisins and Berkshire bacon add a whole other dimension to this wine. Served with a tomato based, fish stew. |

Tannins still holding this back with mostly black cherry showing through. Paired with cheese, it showed slightly more. Needs 5 years sideways before a recheck. No score. |

8/26/2023 - Geaux Tigers Likes this wine: 94 pointsNapa 2023 - The Sequel; 8/23/2023-8/28/2023: Less open than the 2013, but no slouch. Similar notes of red and black fruit, less boisterous fruit, but more pine forest showing. A little more oak and tannins holding this one back. Needs a few years, but don’t sleep on this one. |

8/26/2023 - Geaux Tigers Likes this wine: 97 pointsNapa 2023 - The Sequel; 8/23/2023-8/28/2023: Home-run wine. Hitting on all cylinders with black and red fruit showcased on a base of some early secondary notes of earth and mountain forest. My favorite of the tasting. I preferred this to the 2013 O’Shaughnessy Mount Veeder the day prior. The lower altitude Progeny vineyard shows through with a little more fruit and slightly less structure. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

7/11/2023 - cab_fran Likes this wine: 97 pointsNapa Visit 2023: Fran, Hill, Chris & Tracy; 7/9/2023-7/14/2023 (Napa, CA): Tasted at Winery. This wine had the purest mountain fruit expression that I can recall tasting for many years: vivid red fruit, some sweetness, great structure in a smooth, fully integrated wine. At 10 years, I think this 2013 Progeny Reserve cab is at peak drinking. Alas, I bought 2018s with a plan to lay down for years and hope for similar evolution. For me, this was the wine of the week. Bravo to the team at Progeny. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (4) |

5/28/2023 - mflesh wrote: NRMedium straw colored pour to the glass. Nose of herbs and yellow gritty fruit. The entry is quite weighted. Opulent mouthfeel, dense yellow fruit. Peach and Asian Pear, brioche, almond butter, salted caramel gelato, herbal qualities, white flowers, and ends with a lot of limestone grit and minerality. White pepper finish. Really a lot of excellent and relevant acidity given the age, but this is Veeder fruit so it is quite a bit dense, thick and tannic from the get-go. If you're holding some of these, I'd say that it has probably LOST maybe a half step from where it was a year ago. Problem for me is that I can no longer afford this wine at its current price, so future vintages of this wine are currently not in the cellar. Drink or hold another 1-2 years. |
