2000 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Merlot Los Carnerosmore |
12/28/2010 - eleanor wrote: NRCork completely dry despite proper storage. Nose on opening dominant varietal with mild vinuousness. Color deep ruby, obscured by corkdust (did not filter due to potential fragility). Nose of dusty cherry, still some tart fruit notes with addition of tarry age elements. Like many Carneros bottlings this still has enough acidity to stimulate salivation and carry on to a lovely cocoa dried cherry finish. An excellent performance, why we bought it (untasted from Library for sheer exploration) and nice that having forgotten it, it did not spoil. Good reminder to take others' tasting notes with grain of salt and that a bottle may pass through many stages. Looking forward to tasting the remainder of our vertical 00, 01, 02 over the holidays. |

12/19/2009 - eleanor wrote: 88 pointsHeady Sonoma pinot nose. Smoky, bing cherry, sour cherry, sage, bay & moss. Not as rich as I'd have expected, other than this bottling ending up at Costco (which never seems to happen with the really great stuff). |
