W_dessert - Rousanne - CA. COLOR-medium amber/golden; NOSE-tons of honey; smoked apricots; a little peach fuzz; TASTE-I like this -- it's not too sticky; solid balance; a lot of pears & quince on the back-end; there's a sauterne-like feel for me; GV-?? |

Syrah - California. COLOR-dark; NOSE-leather; slight bacon fat; tons of white & black pepper; I love that it is not over oaked or over-the-top; TASTE-I really like this because of the obnoxious balance; you can taste the dirt; fertilizer; great sour fruit; great balance of fruit & tannins; very lush; and awfully gamey (a venison component); a savory smoked meat; this is an old world play; the fruit is so pure; makes me think of the Rhone; GV-?? |
