2020 Domaine de Trévallon

Alpilles Red Blend more

This is killer. Full stem inclusion, with a purity of fruit; full and yet transparent. The finish glides along without effort. Baked cherries, ripe animal (game and jerky), white pepper, Chinese five spice, currants and almond cookie. Savory, yet remains deep. Redolent. Ready an’ able, yet age worthy and cellar friendly. Such a joy. Fine, satin tannins with layers. Drink 2024 - 2039.

Very flavorful, with watermelon, chalk, stone, rosemary and mineral. So focused and long, with fine acidity and body. Staying power. The nose is in line with the palate, with some stone fruit as well. Drinking well today, I am sure this will age as they typically do. Drink now - 2029.

This is my favorite of this particular bottling since the very memorable 2010 vintage. Loaded with red fruit, like wild strawberries and pomegranate, with it also displaying a lot of citrus, such as blood orange; not to mention Chinese five spice and some mineral qualities. The finish is long and this is a mere baby. The tannins are slight and satiny. Drink 2020 - 2030.

Arguably one of the finest Rosès in the world, the '14 does not disappoint. Key lime pie, watermelon, an enormous amount of mineral and pomegranate. Sumptuous and such a fine bead of acidity. A light touch of anise during the medianly long finish. Enjoy her this summer, however, this is a Rosè that can age. Drink now - 2023.

2010 Château de Pibarnon Bandol

Mourvèdre Blend, Mourvèdre more

9/26/2014 - Matt Scott Likes this wine: 93 points

Decanted for three hours. Fresh tar, blackberry pie, white pepper, fresh fig and lacquered chested drawers. Clean and fresh on the long, yet velvety finish, that still possesses silky tannins; and I really appreciate the right level of acidity. No matter what, she will fair well after a long slumber. I would wait, or do a necessary decant. Full-bodied and quite enjoyable. Drink 2018 -.

Possibley the best ever from Bandol's hegemony, (even though the '11 garnered a higher score, this is more ripe and open). Strawberry guava, key lime, watermelon and salty mineral. Layered and exquisite on the engaging finish. I would love to try this ten years from now, as these Rosés are hardly ephemeral. A gorgeous salmon colour. Drink 2013 - 2024.

2010 Domaine Tempier Bandol La Migoua

Mourvèdre Blend, Mourvèdre more

Decanted for an hour. Eggplant and garnet, with a lighter rim. The nose is very evocative - there's melted licorice, fig paste, coffee grounds, pomegranate, incense, rain-soaked rose petals and warm river rocks. Layer upon layer of tannin and flavor, with so much fineness. The blanketed effect is sonorous with so much exotic dried fruit, holding back on the elegant fervor. So approachable and statuesque enough for a long slumber in the cellar. I'm in love with '10 Tempiers. The thought of this five years from now is laden in joy. The best La Migoua ever! Drink 2018 -.

In Maui....

This is without a doubt the best Bandol bottling from Tempier yet! Strikingly exotic, with flower shop, blackberry, lavender, sun-drenched stone and ground lava. Spicy and lecherously beguiling, drawing you in with a long and plush finish. A gushing mid palate as well; stonking acidity that has definition. Drink 2014 - 2026.

This must be the best Tempier Rose' ever. A light salmon and brass colour. Sundrenched cut watermelon, mineral, straw, rose petal, strawberry and spice. An endowed and long finish and I love how the palate is covered with minerally red fruit. Acidity that makes you literally thirsty for the next sip. There is structure as well. Simply delicious. Drink now -2022.

Watermelon, strawberry jam, straw, sand and creme brûlée. so long, so fresh. Situated on the palate; long finish and layers that truly entice. Satin on every level. One of the best - besides the '09 - yet from possibly the most sublime Rose' producer in the world. Drink now - 2016.

Popped and and let breathe fore an hour. So much granite and stone on the palate, while showing roundness and the nose is the same (of course - as if two weeks would really make a difference). This terroir has developed into something special. Drink now - 2015.

Popped and consumed, quickly. Wondrous on the nose with Fruity Pebbles, lemon, white roses, apple and granite. Full-bodied and a finish that just oozes; this is the best Sainte Fleur yet! Complete and captivatingly complex. There's so much positives and the QPR is out of this world. This is similar to the '08, just more concentration and traveling closer towards perfection. Drink now - 2015

Decanted for two hours. Ruby rim and a garnet core in colour. Fig, burnt embers, melted licorice, red plum and crushed rock. Soft and round tannins and a long finish of smoke and fig, showing true mouverde character and a touch of spice. Very satisfying, acidity that adds a fresh quality and more age will be a benefit. This reminded me of the Mount Eden '06 Cab, in that it took a little while to show any fruit. Drink 2013 - 2024.

Popped and let breathe for one hour. Straw and light brass in colour. This enchanting Viognier is luscious on the nose; with flower shop, bread dough, fruity pebbles, citrus and mineral. The palate really exhibits mineral and an orange quality, with balanced acid. Long and vibrant; this will be a joy with a wide range of food. Drink now - 2014.
