Toasted oak, a touch of vanilla, cayenne pepper, and subtle floral notes on the finish. Quite spicy. Medium-to-full bodied, firm acidity. Overall, a fun Aussie Shiraz, with a little more spice and little less fruit than most Aussie Shiraz bottles. It kind of reminded us of a chocolate bar with cayenne pepper. |

Certainly captures the essence of the Jack Russell: big hearted, bold, and loyal. I'm giving this wine a 100/100. Cheers, Oliver. Thanks for the memories. |

1/20/2008 - cobbpa wrote: 88 pointsLate-notice collegiate wine tasting (Oxford, OH): This was a pretty solid wine. The 3 main components were all straightforward, but were done well and created a good experience. Although I can't remember exactly what I smelled on the nose (I think red fruit, but this is several days later) I remember noting that it was simple but strong. When the wine first hit my tongue I sensed a nice strawberry--not overly sweet, but definitely strawberry. It was slightly thin in the mouth and didn't offer up much after the strawberry, but then the finish threw on loads of black pepper. The acid & structure aren't bad in this wine, and that pepper finish is quite enjoyable to me. No deep complexities emerge, but what's there is done rather well! |

Gobs of dark berries! I get the chocolate brownies only as an aftertaste. I'm going back to the store to buy more. I was told that the other Pure Love Wines such as Layercake are similar or could be the same wine. I would like to try those as well. |
