For each glass I poured the wine through a Vinturi and attempted to give it a few minutes before diving in. It accompanied a strange little solo dinner of olives, a nice salami and brussel sprouts with balsamic brown butter. They all played nicely together. Great concentration in this wine. Really enjoyed this bottle. There's a little of that warm bread on the nose as with the GraEagle, plus an herb I can't quite place. These are also present in the mouth along with flavors of blackberry, black currant, tobacco, and earth. Also something a bit vegetal in there, rather like the Clarendon Hills Merlot I had a few weeks back. Really opens up with a couple of hours of air. Simply loved this bottle. It was blithely ignored for six months, but finally last night I pulled this bottle from the cellar. Opened and poured through a Vinturi. On the nose, blackberry, caramel and vanilla are most prominent. Given 30 minutes, the wine opened up and presented flavors of blackberry and blueberry and mocha. Lively acidity and subtle tannins make for a food-friendly wine. The oak treatment was clearly not based upon a lot of new oak barrels, but the wine didn't really need more than it got. This was a great bottle of CA-style Pinot Noir. Plenty of black cherry on the nose, with noticeable oak. Flavors of black currant, black cherry and raspberry with notes of cocoa and a bit of spice. Definitely oaky, but not unpleasantly so; good acidity and fine tannins. This paired splendidly with a pine-nut encrusted Atlantic salmon, roasted beets with bleu cheese, roasted fennel and turnips. Initially poured through Vinturi, but for the second and third glass I found it was unnecessary. Purple/garnet in color, cherry and chocolate flavors with a bit of earthiness that reminds me of a Clarendon Hills Merlot I enjoyed recently. Smooth medium-length finish. The tropical is a bit more noticeable in the mouth, but gives way to more traditional fruit. It's a nice nuance. Not too sweet, it has a nice mouthfeel and smooth finish. It has enough sweetness to allow it to be very enjoyable on its own, but just the right amount of acidity to allow it to pair with a variety of foods. Red	2007 Lynmar Estate Pinot Noir Russian River Valley more	Options Post a Comment View Leomania's profile Report Issue 9/16/2011 - Leomania Likes this wine: 91 points Not everyone appreciates a nicely oaked Napa Pinot, but as much as a fan of ye olde "wet stone" minerality as I have become, there's nothing wrong (and everything to enjoy) in this particular wine. The cherry and raspberry flavors are nicely concentrated and they are in perfect balance with the acidity and well-integrated tannins. I like this with just a bit of a chill on it, slightly off cellar temp. Mostly enjoyed this one on its own, but my wife and I did drink it with a bit of roasted kale and it went pretty well with it. Deep purple/garnet in color. Nose a bit restrained, showing black fruits, spice and a hint of something vegetal (I'm thinking broccoli or cauliflower most likely). These persist in the mouth, with definite cherry flavors but not like those in a Pinot Noir. A bit disjointed at first, but the between the Vinturi and an hour in the glass it really integrates. No, not me - this bottle. Poured through Vinturi. Rather a light cherry color in the glass. At first the cherry and raspberry nose/flavors were a little muted, although certainly enjoyable. It was the second night after some additional open time in the glass that the wine started to sing. What had been a tartness (not unlike that of a crabapple) turned into the acidity that washed the fruit flavors and sweet oak over the palate with a nice flourish. On the third night (kept with VacuVin plus put into the fridge) it was nicely open as soon as it warmed up. I'm liking this second bottle more than I had expected. Do you find this review helpful? Pulled pork sliders were a good pairing! The wine has flavors of blackberry and some raspberry, and the oak was a bit prominent but went very well with the smokiness of the meat. Didn't seem nearly as tight as the first bottle; it drank very well from the get-go without any food at all. Gobs of black fruit - blackberry, black currant and a bit of plum. Some of caramel in there as well, balanced acidity and good tannins. Really pleasant medium-length finish.
