11/25/2021 - rikipedia Likes this wine: 92 pointsDeep purple to the glass rim, the nose exhibits wild lavender, fennel bulb and classic garrigue elements. The nose has freshness and intensity, along with blue fruits, white pepper and some feral Sauvage tones. A mineral and crushed granite quality, along with the pepper, suggests stem inclusion, and on entry, this is confirmed with coolness and firm, chalky horizontal texture that leads to fairly puckering tannins. A cushion of blackberry paste, blueberry jam and ripe black olive soften the mid-palate, but the strident acidity rises to add further freshness to this tangy, vibrant wine. Quite linear in shape for a Syrah with purity of fruit and this underlying sour cherry skin grip - certainly a nod to Rhone. The finish has more blackberry pastilles that sweeten and give light relief to the back palate. Enjoyable edgy wine with that lovely coolness, powdered stone, and fresh lavender on an extended length. |

10/4/2021 - Jvanwinkle Likes this wine: 91 pointsReally enjoyed this. Not dark and foreboding as some Syrah can be but still had the lovely olive and other savory notes. Fruit was fresh and at the forefront. Just a lovely bottle that was gone quite quick—will buy more! |

12/18/2021 - Discobiscuits42 wrote: 89 pointsNose is showing very well. Very deep aroma of super concentrated dark fruits. Taste is similar in character but not as good... fruit has receded somewhat. The wine is somewhat disjointed and the acid is not as much in harmony with the wine as I would prefer. It is a little bitter. Quite a bit of sediment. A decent body to it. Overall pretty decent. |

12/18/2021 - pcwoz Likes this wine: 89 pointsLovely colour. A light almost copper hued red. I kind of thought it looked like a rose, but nope it's a red wine. Light bodied. Fresh. Good length. A light tannin grip. Really enjoyed it - quirky but really drinking well. |

12/5/2021 - jviz wrote: 92 pointsThe most recitcient (on the nose) vintage of SH I’ve had to date (starting in 16) but somehow also the cleanest. I’m wondering if it’s a matter of travel shock or something as I just picked these up over the weekend. Even so, the wine is really pretty, a more feminine Sonoma Hillsides with cranberry, pastel florals, and faint olive. Tannins are softened relative to previous vintages, but it’s still a little chewy. Really balanced, too and this should hold up well in the cellar! I wish the nose were more exuberant but let’s see how the next bottle performs in a few months. For now, it’s really pleasing on the palate. |

12/1/2021 - Coachron13 Does not like this wine: 75 pointsThis is not anything like any syrah we've ever had. Very light, extremely fruit forward, was like one of those zins that nobody likes. Tried recorking and waiting a couple days to see if anything changed, but it just got worse. Dumped most of it. |

11/29/2021 - hutch Likes this wine: 91 pointsSuch a controversial bottle but this seemed sound. It did not have the explosive aromatics from when it was released. This is not fruit forward. It is very savory, with olives, purple flowers, a little meat. I could see some finding it even under ripe but I enjoyed it. Much better with the meal then on its own, as the acid is elevated. Wish I had another one to try in a few years but I have nothing to complain with this bottle |

11/26/2021 - WineArchitect Likes this wine: 93 pointsDark garnet, saturated color. Aromatics of lavender, smoke and a touch of creosote.
