Although the cork was in good shape, the nose has a tinge of that oxidized smell. The color is a bit light. The tannins are still present and even somewhat strong, but the fruit has faded somewhat. I think this one is on the downslope and should have been consumed within 8 years of vintage. The nose develops nicely during 1,5 hours, however, it was better when our ordered food was enjoyed. You can smell the barrel ageing, however, as to be expected, way to young. It seems that Ricasoli-Wines are now meant to be aged at least for 10 years before fully mature. Back to Mr. Parker? High potential, but for now 91. En bouche, il est fruité avec des tannins fins mais encore présents. Texturé et ample...le fruit est plutôt discret en milieu de bouche avec une moyenne à longue finale...soupçon de griotte. No signs of evolution. Nose: immediately after opening: crunchy deep red fruits. Evolved in a more complex nose with typical sangiovese ‘tea leaf’ (1) flavors Taste: whaw, you get an acid kick at first. And then a streak of bitterness. Not really integrated but at age 9 you wonder if this will ever get more mellow. Shouts for tomato based italian dishes. Very chianti in style. Yet not to open without food.
