Definitely a full-throttle style and not much in the way of subtlety here - spicy, cedary and vanilla from the oak along with red cherry and raspberry compote. A confident, almost boisterous nose and a full velvety palate with rich fruit and a some residual sugar. Hint of coffee adds welcome bitterness and the tannins are slightly spiky- though you have to look for them because there’s so much going on. Just a bit of alcoholic heat on a long finish. Fun and hedonistic with a roast rib of beef |
