Incredibly intense and almost endless aftertaste. Just a delight! The wine is caramel-colored, which makes me think that it would probably be a good idea to finish these in the next 3 or 4 years, but there are no danger signs other than the color itself. [Tasted over three hours from the Jancis Robinson glass.] |

8/2/2023 - Wine Diplomats Likes this wine: 95 pointsTasted at the domaine with other wines in their lineup. Evolved dark color. nutty nose, honey and more savoriness on the nose. Longer. Good acidity. Coffee and chocolate notes. So much more going on than the 2020 which was all about rich fruit. This still has the richness but added decadent complexity. Warmer vintage than the 1998 Madame so a richer style but surprisingly just as good as the Cuvee Madame. 97 |

8/2/2023 - Wine Diplomats Likes this wine: 97 pointsSome ginger, nutty and savory notes. The smoothest and silkiest of all of them. The most elegant. Spiciest. Baking spices. Licorice. Most length. Cooler vintage so more elegant, fine than the 2001 (regular cuvee). |

7/8/2023 - DBdeParis Likes this wine: NRForgot about this bottle in the cellar but was reminded by today's Tour de France route. Deep color, very rich nose and palate. Acids pretty much gone so sweetness is accentuated. A lot of these still in CellarTracker cellars - now is a great time to start enjoying. |

Slightly less acidity than the best of Sauternes from this same vintage, but really wonderfully layered and complex. Purchased at the domaine at release, I haven't tried this wine in over a decade and am very pleased with what is here. |

6/21/2022 - NoahCap wrote: NRClearly extremely well made, but I think this was just a bit too much for my particular palate: too sweet, too concentrated, too viscous, too cloying. I like dessert wines, though I don't drink them very often, but this was an uber-dessert wine. I agree with the tasting notes written by other tasters- dried apricots, honey, caramel, along with a kind of prune note at the end. Long finish, very complex, but felt like drinking a glass of maple syrup. Maybe best served one crystal spoonful at a time. |
