Not a terribly complex wine, but surprisingly difficult to describe accurately. Spicy cherries, escarole, a touch of lemon, tannins, and a very long and pleasant aftertaste, ending on a lemon and cherry note--and just before the end there's a vivid burst of cherry, just for an instant. [Tasted over two hours from the Jancis Robinson glass. The score was the same from the start, but there were minor variations in the description--this description reflects the wine after about an hour and a half.] Very enjoyable and very flexible with food.

Of three bottles tasted, two had subtly tainted corks. This is probably a statistical freak, but if you taste this wine and find it disappointing, consider the possibility that the problem is the cork rather than the wine itself.

Enjoyable from the moment the bottle was opened. Cherries, hints of milk chocolate and fruitcake, very faint smoke, tannins, long aftertaste, but very light. Over the next hour, the wine gained significantly in richness and weight, and the smells and flavors became more vivid, although without any change in the specifics until after about two and a half hours, when blueberries joined in the mix. [Tasted over almost three hours, primarily from the Jancis Robinson glass. Some other glasses brought out an extremely unpleasant blast of acrid smoke--if this happens to you, switch to a different glass if you can! The score reflects the wine after about an hour in the Jancis Robinson glass.] My guess is that this wine will improve with additional time in the cellar, but it gives a lot of pleasure even now.
