3/19/2024 - Brian Glas Likes this wine: 88 pointsTasted after 90 minutes of air. This was very sweet when popped and poured but has gotten more reserved with some air. Medium ruby color. Some raspberry fruit with tea notes. A bit of spice. This doesn't have much mid palate and fades quickly on the finish. |

2/12/2024 - Giggs wrote: 89 pointsLots of oak, which needs a couple years to integrate. Drinking it today with a couple hours decanting, the oaky brioche and bourbon notes do eventually blow off to reveal ripe cranberry and brown spices. There’s a lot of quality to the presentation but not much complexity, or at least the oak is concealing any complexity that might be hiding underneath. Drink 2026-2030. 2/7/2024 - Bjweiss Likes this wine: 89 pointsCurious to see how a Jackson family estate would stack up against some of my favorite Oregon producers. In short, I won’t be switching my allegiances anytime soon. That said, this is a good wine that delivers satisfying fruit and is technically excellent (no flaws whatsoever). But, what it’s lacking is any real terroir, savory notes, texture. It’s too simple and fruit forward for my personal taste, but I do think this will please many. If I ran across this on a restaurant BTG list I wouldn’t hesitate to order it, let’s put it that way. |

1/7/2024 - Brian Glas Does not like this wine: 82 pointsTasted on day 2. A bit flat. No verve here. A bit of strawberry and muted spice. Hollow mid palate. Meh. Not flawed. Just not as good as previous bottles I've had. |

12/30/2023 - BottleScholar wrote: NRRipe red cherry, dried blueberry, dusty road, forest floor, dark/milk chocolate, cedar, light cola (vanilla, baking spice, toast). Medium-Deep ruby. M/M+ aromatic intensity. M/M+ concentration. M+ slightly chalky tannins are a little high, in excess of balance, at least based on current time/evolution since poured. M+ body. M/M+ acid. M finish. Stated 14.5 abv may actually be a bit higher, as alcohol comes across a little "hot", high relative to the intensity, concentration, and ripeness. I enjoy others from the producer. Maybe my palate is off from something I ate, or it just needs more time to open up. The expression and intensity seems a little dampened, almost like there is a slight neutral wax coating the wine. Tech sheet states, "18 months French oak (50% new)" and "...clay soil called Hazelair, which result[s] in a wine that is very dark, rich, and powerful." I would not have guessed clay soil. I look forward to comparing this note with a future glass. |

2/19/2017 - Mossrose wrote: 95 pointsBought this for $35 and tasted daily for 5 days to give the wine a full opportunity to show how good it could become as well as how well it held up. Dark purple color with a very inviting nose of lavender, black cherry, and black plum. The mouth is a delightful duo of caressing and coating. Adds a concentrated blackberry, an impressive undertow of strong and resilient tannin, and a latticework of refreshing acidity. Overall, superbly rich, delicious, and integrated, especially for a 4 year old wine, with nothing thin, harsh, or astringent. |

4/21/2019 - Mossrose wrote: 94 pointsMy last bottle, kept open and sipped slowly for a week with no deterioration. Opaque purple, delicious, smoothly textured, very tasty red and black cherry, and mouth coating, with an excellent balance of acid and tannin. As fine as this 10 year old drinks now, could be fully enjoyed over another 4 years, with no need to drink up soon. |
