2010 Kapcsandy Family Winery Endre

Yountville Red Bordeaux Blend more

Enjoyed this quite a lot. Does take some time in the decanter to soften up a bit. Lots of red berry notes throughout. Slightly tannic on the back end. A nice blend that is very reminiscent of a young Bordeaux. It'll be interesting to see if this takes on some good secondary characteristics in the coming years.

Enjoyed this wine quite a lot. Nice earth, mushroom notes on the nose mixed with red berry notes. Deep ruby color. Medium bodied. Lots of secondary characteristics poking through. In a good place right now. Paid $30 for this bottle, which turned out to be a great deal.

Previously had the 05 and 08 of this wine and the '10 is easily a better wine compared to both of them. Nicely complex with some charred oak elements and dark fruits. Good acidity as well. First 2010 BdM that I've had. Looking forward to great things from this vintage.

Definitely a nice bit of funk on the nose of this wine. Bretty and 'barnyardy' but it does blow off fairly quickly. Wine itself is nicely integrated and smooth from start to finish with nice earth tones showing through. Probably in it's prime drinking window and should remain there for a number of years. Decent value for $40.

Just a quick note on this first bottle. This is the best $30 Pinot Noir you can drink. Did I mention that it's $15?

Better then the last bottle. Not nearly as pruney on the nose which tells me that the prior bottle must have seen some heat along the way. This was a little better but still generally underperformed my expectations.

Decanted for around 5 hours. Impressively balanced. Leans more towards a young first / second growth Bordeaux more than it does towards it's peers in Napa and for me, that's a good thing. There's a very pronounced anise / piney note on the nose that's very interesting. The palate is very impressive and complex. Probably as close to perfection in this style of wine that I've had. I can't wait to see how this develops and will not even look at another bottle for probably another 10 years just to see what sort of secondary characteristics will develop.

Enjoyed this quite a lot. Very fine grained and soft tannins. Good red berry profile with a slight minerality on the edges. I'd like to coax a little more out of the nose but that'll certainly come with a little more age.

Surprising turnaround from the previous bottle I had back in November. Smooth and subtle but well rounded and complete. Good wine. Previous one must have been an off bottle. Glad I tried it again.

For me, easily the best vintage to date of this wine. Velvety smooth with nice vanilla tones to the bright red cherry fruits. Reminds me of something from further north in Oregon. Definitely a rebuy for me.

Slightly 'pruney' on the nose. Seems much older than a '99. Bottle may have been exposed to heat at some point. There's some black licorice notes as well which also show on the palate. I have another bottle so we'll see what that one is like for comparison and update this note accordingly.

Pretty good but still seems to need a little more time, perhaps 2 or 3 years, to soften just a touch. Good value considering the price of most of it's peers.

This is from 1998?! Amazingly age-defying. Wonderful clear crimson color with no signs of age at all. Nose has just a touch of funk that is probably the only part that gives a slight hint that it would be possibly 10 or so years old, not nearly 20. Still vibrant on the palate with great cherry and cola elements that you get in many of the much younger versions of this wine. Good stuff!

Drinks much younger than you'd expect. Fruit is still the prominent characteristic with some earth tones just starting to peek through the edges. Not much age showing in the color either. Good wine with lots of life left in the bottle. $30 is a great price point.

A nice mix of acidity and good structure from start to finish. Fruit has a nice bit of a spice element to it. Pairs well with food. For $40, it's not a bad value if you compare it to your similarly priced new world appellation wines like a Russian River Valley or Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. In fact, at $40 it's cheaper than a lot of them and much more elegant.

At first pop this can across as somewhat disjointed and out of sorts. After about an hour or so of being open it went through a nice transformation, putting on weight and coming together very nicely. Smooth texture with a nice bit of funk on the nose. Overall a decent effort for a second wine.

As others have noted, this is fully mature and ready to drink. I love the nose on this wine. Takes you straight to St. Estephe. Good depth on the fruit as well even after all this time. A testament to how good the top level Montrose form 96 should be at this point. Great second wine!
