2022 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les PucellesChardonnay more |
4/26/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 96 pointsThe Pucelles is subtle and elegant compared to the Clos de la Mouchère, the oak not as obvious. The citrus and white fruits are long and focused and linger and never quit. The salinity adds an extra dimension that amplifies the texture and wraps the flavors. beauty and recommended. 96+ 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2022 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la MouchèreChardonnay more |
4/26/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 96 pointsAmazing density of citrus and white fruits. Sweet and spherical in the mouth with great salinity and acidity driving the long finish and giving you no choice but to come back for more. The toasty oak is well balanced. This could be the best young Clos de la Mouchère that I have tasted. Highly recommended. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2021 Albert Grivault Meursault 1er Cru Les PerrièresChardonnay more |
4/25/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsOrchard fruits and a little citrus on the nose against the oyster shells of a Chablis. The oak is barely noticeable, mostly as a source of a little tannic bitterness. Creamy on the palate with bright acidity balancing all the elements and driving the medium-long finish. This bottle was sent to me by mistake instead of the 2021 Clos des Perrieres that I had ordered, and I enjoyed it without reservation. |

2020 Domaine Henri Boillot Meursault 1er Cru Clos RichemontChardonnay more |
3/29/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsI really liked this wine when I first tasted it last year for its bright acidity and creamy texture. The acidity is still there, but the texture has faded a bit, which is probably expected, but I miss it. The 2020s are shedding their baby fat (body) and moving towards being lean and precise. I was not expecting this to happen this soon, but here it is, and I love it. This is already very focused with its citrus and minerals and remnants of oak. Excellent. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2020 Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les FuéesPinot Noir more |
3/2/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsWhere it lacks in color depth and glycerin compared to many 2020s, this wine makes up for in inner mouth perfume and energy. They managed to retain perfect acidity, which gives the aromatics an extra push at the finish that calls for another pour. The tannins are fine and the wood faint but noticeable still, but none of that interferes with the enjoyment. A beauty. |

2/25/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsDetailed cherries and violets lifted by well-judged stems. Sweet and saline on the palate, which is a good thing, because the tannins are almost invisible, and this would be too sweet without the extra salinity. Great acidity and creamy mouthfeel. This will merit a higher score when the wine expands, as the aromatics are lovely. |

2020 Domaine Jamet Côte-RôtieSyrah more |
2/22/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsGreat acidity and fruit on entry. Cherries, olives, minerals. Fine tannins. Great mid-palate, but saline and quiet on the finish. This will deserve a higher score if/when it expands. I like that this could be called approachable in the context of Northern Rhone. |

2/19/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsCitrus and citrus blossom. Great acidity and very long on the finish. The oak is not intrusive. Young today, needs 4-6 years. |

2/14/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsNice density of fruit, cherries, strawberries and a very enticing 2021 spice that reminds me of fresh black amber plums. Light oak and just right tannins, this is very approachable and enjoyable. I followed this wine over 4 days. The wine put on weight and gained in density with time and tasted even better. Bought more. 591 bottles produced. Wax capsules starting in 2021. |

2020 Domaine Francois et Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les GenevrièresChardonnay more |
1/16/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis has put on weight and some honey has emerged. Amazing intensity. The tangerine peel note still dominates on the palate. |

2021 Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Les MazuresChardonnay more |
1/16/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 93 pointsThe wine starts with reductive notes mixed with minerals and spicy green plums. Lovely mouthfeel and intensity. I like this wine better than the '21 Caillerets for drinking today, but both need more time. |

1/15/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsThe oak is less intrusive today and the beautiful ripe fruit balances really well with ripe stem notes. Nice acidity. This is lovely and worth your attention. Bought a few more bottles. 94+ |

1/15/2024 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 95 pointsVery concentrated cherries and flowers, rose petal, in particular, and a very mild licorice note at the finish that adds intrigue. Beautiful balance and extra tension from the acidity. The abundant fruit suppresses any perception of oak or tannins, so this is approachable right now. Fantastic wine. 95+ |

11/27/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis wine continues to evolve at a snail's pace. Brilliant red fruit accompanied by olives, herbs, brine and very mild tannins. This is not too aggressive to drink today, but you need to have a taste for all the stem greenery and spices which should integrate in due time. |

2020 Domaine Francois et Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les GenevrièresChardonnay more |
11/9/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsThe reductive nose has now turned into a very attractive tangerine peel spice. Dense mouthfeel. Citrus and citrus peel and minerals. Saline. This is very complex and should get to 95+. Glad I bought more. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

9/29/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsPears and white fruit against a background of stones and light licorice. Great acidity and tannic mouthfeel. The minerals and salinity impart a complex and bitter note and balance the ripe fruit. Better wait a few years for the various elements to harmonize. It's a treat to drink this wine alongside the 2020 Girardin Meursault Perrieres. Both recommended. |

9/28/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsBeautiful sunny citrus and white fruit. The bright acidity adds lots of tension and suppresses the fruit. Round creamy texture. Delicious to drink today. A little more fruit intensity as the wine puts on weight in a few years, and this will be a 95-point wine. Bought some more. |

9/7/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 94 pointsSweet and saline citrus, citrus peel, and minerals. This really grows on you and doesn't let go. The abundant fruit is suppressed by the limestone minerality at the moment, and this will merit a higher score in due time. A wine to buy for its complexity. 94+ potential |

2008 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chevalier-MontrachetChevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay more |
8/25/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 95 pointsThis was not as accessible as the last bottle and was jokingly referred to as a "barrel sample" by the tasting group. Concentrated and linear citrus and minerals. No discernible oak. This is very close to reaching the aniseed phase of aromatics, but not quite there. Needs at least 4 years to expand. |

1990 Domaine Dujac EchezeauxEchezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir more |
8/25/2023 - blacktruffle Likes this wine: 95 pointsHad side by side with the Henri Jayer 1990 Echezeaux. Texturally, I preferred the Dujac, as the acidity and tannins were all-so-slightly aggressive on the palate in the Jayer. I welcomed the relative softness in this wine that other reviewers pointed out. I loved the Dujac's focused and clear stem and tea spice. It was linear and more accessible to the senses. The Jayer overwhelmed the senses in this respect with so much stimulation coming from all directions. The Jayer was in a higher league for sure, but I kept going back to the Dujac thinking that I liked it even if not as much as the Jayer. Thank you, Wilf. |
