2015 Vignerons des Terres Secrètes Bourgogne Les Sentinelles

The 2017 Vignerons des Terres Secretes Bourgogne Chardonnay "Les Preludes" is without question the best white wine value we've encountered in 2019, and a tribute to a stunning white Burgundy vintage. Earning a huge 96-point rating and priced just under $13, it is a sensational find that should be purchased by the case. This 2017 is every bit as delicious as its 96-point score suggests. Sourced from a selection of prized plots in the Mâcon, the quality of the fruit shines through brilliantly. Showcasing excellent balance, clarity, and vibrancy, one might expect this Bourgogne Blanc to cost upwards of $30. Fortunately, we got a terrific price from our distributor, which we are passing along. It's not often we find a Burgundy value quite like this one, but when we do, we go big! Those looking for a house white would be hard-pressed to find a value this good. While we secured as many cases as we could, bargains like this always sell out in a flash. You'll need to hurry to not miss out on this incredible value.

2017 Vignerons des Terres Secretes Bourgogne Chardonnay "Les Preludes" ($12.99)

96 points Decanter: "Deliciously ripe pear, apricot, citrus and exotic melon underpinned by a lean, mineral purity; vibrant and fresh with a mouthwatering juiciness and a very long finish." (06/2019)

K&L Notes: A winemaking cooperative in the Mâconnais comprising members who seek out the most "secret" plots of earth to make their distinctive wines.

Aromas of orchard fruits and freshly squeezed Meyer Lemons spring from the glass. The palate is lively with intense citrus and green apple flavors as well as notes of iodine and dried hay. The length here is quite impressive with a finish that lingers on the palate as the lemon notes slowly fade away.

Pure, fresh Chardonnay fruit is packed in here with aromas showing a mix of citrus, melon, stone fruit and white flowers. The flavor is scrumptious, the acidity is zingy, and the finish lounges on my palate.

If you love a crisp, clean, and vivacious Chardonnay, then you simply must try this delightful 2017. Its approach is linear and focused, but then quickly expands, offering rounded edges and a plush mouthfeel. An array of green apple, lemon, a Bartlett pear grab your attention and hold onto to it. A bright and palate-cleansing finish rounds things out wonderfully, ending with a subtle tingle of acidity.

Clean, crisp, fresh, packed with bright mineral notes and supple flavors of pear D'Anjou, Golden Delicious apple with a juicy, citrusy finish.

Not fruity in the ordinary sense. Rather like thinned, uncomplicated blackberry juice to which has been added sucrose and alcohol. Picked up from winery; perfectly stored.

Expected nothing, but was very surprised.
Nearly perfect in every way; only a tolerable bit of alcohol diminished overall. What was once hard and charmless had become perfectly melded into a rich, velvety, highly pleasurable experience. Visually, outstanding. Nose, outstanding. Taste, excellent.

Initial impression - very seductive perfume of roses and raspberries. Over time, this diminished and, at last, became a rich, but rather heavy wine. I'll remember that first impression. Nemesis, indeed.

B-. As fond as I am of Le Cuvier, this bottle was, at best, lackluster, and more honestly, off-putting. I wish that I could call it lambic, but the fruit was too thin. Too old? I don't recall when it arrived. Poured for company with great expectations. It was passed over for more pleasing fare. Will only be drunk if there's no stew on the horizon.

For first 30 mins, undrinkable -- bitter, burnt, zero fruit. Set aside until following evening and miraculously, the rich, dark cherry and blackberry fruit had emerged. The thick burnt structure remained, but was amply balanced by the fruit. A rich, old zin.

Had not expected much given recent reviews. Damn. Should have saved for a sophisticated dinner [Though it would be a crowd pleaser, as well.] This was an extremely pleasant wine w/ food or alone. Wonderful balance -- acidity, minerality, fruit (pears/pineapple). Nothing flabby at all. Sorry, did not last for day 2 or 3 notes. Outstanding.

By all accounts this wine was gone, long past its useful, pleasurable age. In fact, it was perfect -- a fine balance of sweet strawberry and raspberry, infused with attar of rose, and enough acid to match its graces to grilled meat. Alas, I thought its pleasures were past and consumed it alone. Now it is gone.
