A lot of heat on the nose, which made me look at the bottle and realize that it shouldn't be surprising that it's 15.8% alcohol. What did surprise me was how strangely sweet the wine was; it was very port-like which makes me wonder if this bottle is past it's prime. Or whether or not I've been drinking way too much tonight. Or both.

Upon first sip, doesn't seem to be anything of note. But the finish...oh, that finish...I almost had to spit it out. Some time in the glass did not improve it. Received as a birthday present from a friend; now I wonder if she secretly hates me.

The first word that popped into my head was delish! A great value @ $18 and definitely something I could drink every night. Nice finish and paired well with some leftover BBQ chicken lettuce wraps

After picking out the shards of glass embedded in the brie after the prosecco slicing, the rose came out. We were all pleasantly surprised at how much we liked it. We didn't feel it was sweet at all and it definitely had Syrah-like characteristics (spice, etc). It was definitely enjoyable.

The star of the evening. Paired well with a simple grilled flank steak. Very food friendly and in the words of one of my friends, "absolutely delish"

The last wine of the evening, it was a perfect way to end the night. A great nose, and a nice brown tawny color. Within minutes, the bottle was drained and we were left wishing we had more.

A nice entry level zin. Nothing special and an easy drinker. Would probably taste better if it weren't for my cold :(

Don't really have any tasting notes, but I remember it was delicious, especially paired with the roasted leg of lamb we had for Easter dinner :)

Oak on the nose, but not overly so on the palate. A friend said it smelled like a barrel room. Definitely good spice notes and enjoyed by all.

Wow, what a nose of this wine! Ripe cherries that just explode with berries on the tongue. Despite the alcohol there was no heat on the nose or on the tongue.

Brought this with us to a seafood restaurant where it paired great with a raw oyster appetizer. The honey and apple notes of the wine complemented the saltiness and crispness of the oysters.

Great cherry red color with great legs, nose is very berrylicious with no heat. Right out of the bottle, it has almost an astringent quality and an odd aftertaste. After sitting in the glass the astringency has died down and I'm getting a little bit of earth and tobacco maybe.

Curious to see how this will be on day two.

UPDATE: Definitely mellowed out on days two and three. I actually really like it now and that strange finish is gone. I'm interested in seeing if this is common with this grape or a unique characteristic of this bottling.

One of the best cabs that I've had the pleasure of drinking. Great color and structure, and not overly tannic. There was a bit of sediment in the neck and on the cork when I opened it, so I recommend standing it upright a few days before opening. Held up pretty well over the few (three) days after it was opened. Wish I had some more detailed notes, though! I will definitely have to go pick up some more next time I'm up in Sonoma

Bright garnet color with long legs. No heat on the nose but not terribly complex or interesting. Seems a little thin when paired with simple spaghetti w/tomato sauce and grated parmesan. May be past its prime and on the decline.

It's got vanilla in the nose and really clings to the glass. Upon first taste, the one thing that jumped out at me was pepper & spice, with low-to-moderate tannins. It isn't hot in the least bit and went really well with some chile-spiced chicken that I stir-fried tonight.
